Replying to Google SketchUp Help

So for my graduation requirement I have to do a big presentation and Im focused on building terrain parks. I was told to use SketchUp to make my "applied piece" and I have no fucking clue how to use this thing. I need to replicate a trail from my mountain to use for the park. I can kinda make features but 2 rails take up the entire space and I dont know how to make it more of a 2d type thing. I just need some instructions please.
