UVM class of 2020

Im definitely going to UVM next year, so I wanna talk to some other seniors. This isnt like a cry for help about me being nervous next yr, but most of the kids in the fb group seemed weird. I wanna a get a more realistic view of who I'll be talking to i guess

Thinking about, it depends. Im not a competive guy at all so if its all like that I'll probably just do the club. I do want to ski as much as i can tho

I was really really into UVM at one point, and still love the school. I think every school has people that don't seem cool, or 'normal', but someone might think that about you. Its all perspective, people grow up in different areas with different norms. Enjoy UVM!

I guess thats a better perspective. I'll change weird to pretty much i havent found anyone in that group whos a legit skier. Everyone says they like to do it, but it seems like theyre the go every few weekends type

I can totally relate. People just do it for an activity, rather than a passion. I'm sure people who really love skiing, aren't going to post about it, because they know what the average skier is about.

Yeah I agree about the FB chat as well but I've been 100% committed since December so everyday is just a step closer to gettin up there. Im beyond stoked and glad a thread like this is made for people that share at least one common interest to talk.

Don't worry, it's only competitive if you make it. Only probably a quarter of the people on the team regularly compete. If you're tryna ski as much as possible, the team is exactly what you want. We send vans to the mountain every day of the week. As a freshman if you're not on the team, the only option other than finding a ride with someone with a car is to take the club's school bus on the weekends, which sucks.

I was up there last weekend checking out the school. I ended up commiting to another VT college, but UVM seemed really chill.

It's such a big place that I think everyone has a great opportunity to find their people. Like there's a shitton of hippy-types (saw this dude in a ratty flannel and dirty pants walking around outside w/o shoes who looked like he'd just spend 3 weeks in the forest), but there's also a lot of preppy kids, athletes, and Vermont rednecks.

I would definitely hit up the ski team as a way to meet kids and get as many days in as possible, even if you're not a competitive guy or whatever. I would guess that the students on the team are generally less hippyish than others but I don't know for sure.

Also, I've been in the FB group for a couple months and it's literally 95% granola girls (is that a term?) who post (and that one snowboarder kid), but I'm sure there's a bunch of other types.

UVM facebook groups are terrible and the kids in them are weird. that being said try to find someone who doesn't suck too much to room with. Ideally find your roommate through NS so you're not stuck with a total herb.

Really considering transferring to UVM next spring, missed the April 15 transfer deadline for next fall which sucks. Currently a freshman at Ithaca College right now.

Yoo I'll be a freshman at UVM next year. I'm gonna try and get into the Greenhouse RLC I think, I've heard great things about it. Looking forward to it!
