ND filters

I used a ND filter for some time, you could adjust how dark/light you wanted it. Kinda a weird/cheap contraption. That broke.

I bought a cheap gradient ND filter (really fun) for landscapes (sunsets, sunrises primarily) Also broke.

Soon I am going to drop some $ on some nice Lee Filters or somethings similar.

You could drop the money on some cheap ones to play around with. That's my suggestion, you don't need to spend upwards of 200-300 on them if you're just learning.

the reason I want them is because I want to do some long exposure stuff during the day while using my sharpest apature such as f8 rather than f22 which causes defraction.If I use ND filters I don't need to compensate for ISO because I compensate with my long exposures.

Just get some cheaper ones to play around with for a while. Shooting daytime waterfalls is one of my favorite things to do with them.

Are you talking just the glass, or the mount as well?

I have a GenusTech matte box lite that I am selling as well that holds the glass but I don't have a 4x4 mount for photography

just a heads up you should get a couple to stack to make darker with my .9 I find myself sometimes still going to f16 which I hate to do just to get down to 1/4 second shutter on lakes in harsh midday sun.

mine as well love making the water look smooth and cascading. I agree with altitude here get some cheaper ones, get the tiffen kit that comes with 3 different densities. Fairly cheap good glass still considering its tiffen and I haven't found a reason to upgrade yet. Sure if you forget to dial in your white balance sometimes you can get a slight color cast nothing a quick fix in photoshop wont take care of.
