Is this another one of those features that goggle manufacturers create to add a little spice to their range or do the different shapes genuinely make a difference?
What do you have and why is it better?

Caucasian_AsianThey definitely make a difference.
The rigid nature of the lenses makes them not fit my face. And more expensive. No matter what brand it is, I end up with a gap at the bridge of my nose.
So I just buy the flat frame models. Same great optics and lens tints, better price.
onenerdykidSpherical lenses offer better optics than cylindrical lenses. Not to the point where you can't see anything with a cylindrical lens, but spherical lens are nicer. Here is a simple & effective test- hold them both up and look at the lenses. Looking at the cylindrical lens, your reflection is all distorted but looking at the spherical lens, your reflection is perfect. There is far less distortion in general with a spherical lens.
sparklefartsThat's interesting. I have a pretty fat head so I don't think ill end up getting gaps
Caucasian_AsianThat's exactly why I get gaps.
gapersarefriendsI had both the spy doom and spy ace this season, and i definitely enjoyed the flatter ace
sparklefartsYou didn't have anything wrong with flat? Prefered that over sphere?
gapersarefriendsI liked it way more. MAybe it was the design of the goggle but the frame of the doom inside interfered with my vision a hell of a lot more than the ace. I used electric eg2's and 2.5s before this season and i wont go back from cylindrical
