Cross Country Road Trip PA-CA

Can't help you much on the drive but I would want to bring my girl. Road trips are always better with company and even if she doesn't want to ski I bet she would enjoy exploring while you ski. What school are you going to be attending?

I've driven across the country three times, it's definitely better with company. The midwest is bigggggg and boring. Plus, if you're from the east coast (PA lol), you should be stoked on exploring the insanely better terrain and snow out west. IMO I'd redo your list of resorts to focus on that regardless of pow or not, fuck park if you only have a few days.

Where are you doing your semester in LA? I'm in my third year at UCLA.

I would say if your'e coming from the Colorado/Utah area you can either go more south and hit the Grand Canyon then Las Vegas/Hoover Dam. If you go more west, you can hit Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and then down the coast (Big Sur, etc.) or you can go more inland in California and go from Tahoe to Yosemite and then Mammoth.

Also, I would come up with a plan then talk with your GF about possible any possible concerns and basically let her decide. For me personally, traveling with someone, especially a significant other, would be a lot more fun then alone.

If you're in LA and need a spot to crash shoot me a PM. Also oddly enough, some of my best friends here are from Philly.

Being together I think it would be a fun trip, especially since it'll be the last thing we do for 16 weeks. That's true I never thought of her just going out to explore her self. I currently attend Temple University, they have a "Study Away" program that is located in LA. Its operating out of Raleigh Studios in Hollywood. Ill be living at Oakwood Apartments.

The longest drive I have ever tackled was 9 hours, but I don't think its going to be too bad. I can't believe that you have done the drive 3 times. The more I think about it, it would be nice to have a human to talk too instead of just bumping to music the entire time. I am 100% from the Ice Coast lol I have only had a couple true pow days while in VT but I completely didn't think of kind of chasing the Pow. Was so stoked on riding a crazy park out west. If snow seems to be in the future for that time where are my best chances of getting face shots at a mountain.

I currently attend Temple University as a sophomore right now, almost done this semester then ill be a Junior going into this. They have a "Study Away" program that is located in LA. Its operating out of Raleigh Studios in Hollywood. Ill be living at Oakwood Apartments. So its a semester program (16 weeks) I will be doing an internship out there as well as 2 classes. Haven't picked an internship yet. You're so lucky you're at UCLA, that was my dream school. (Think it is for any film kid)
As much as seeing the Grand Canyon seems fun, the more I think about it the more I don't see myself as a sight seeker lol. I was planning on skipping places in CA because ill be there the entire semester and have some time to enjoy CA while I'm there. Actually thought about buying a Bear pass but I'm not sure what kind of free time ill have with classes and the internship.
She actually wants to come with me 100% I'm the one who is a little skeptical. We have some time but want to be able to have everything set sooner rather than later.

I will definitely be hitting you up, gonna need some new riding friends, and people to show me around this amazing state. Crazy that you know some Philly peeps. Such a small world? Do you ski Bear? or make the drive to Mammoth?

Awesome man, my buddies went to film school at Temple also (Tyler School of Art?), and actually they may have done the exact same internship program that you're going to do.

It didn't register that you're going to be staying here in CA so yeah it makes sense not to visit CA places on your trip over. Seems like just skiing CO and UT is your best bet.

I got a pass to Bear/Mammoth as a part of the ski team here for $350 so it was super cheap but I didn't go very much. Mammoth is just a bitch to drive to, but I wish I went to Bear more often. It's not the best mountain ever but it's a lot closer.

I would 100% bring someone with for that drive cause it is a super boring one and ive made the drive between Colorado and Chicago about 20 times and would hate to do it alone.

I would ski around a bit regardless of what the snows like. Chances are you can find some dope shit even if it's not fresh. Snow might not be there, but the terrain would be. I'd recommend getting in contact with NSers in each area and having one show ya around. Nothing like exploring/keeping up with someone who shreds and knows the mountain real well, nah mean?

Road trips are infinitly better with company. If you've only done 9 hour road trips, you are in for a slap in the face. Driving is mentally tiring even though you are just sitting there. 16 hours in one shot is A LOT, especially across the plains. The most I've done is 15 hours at once on the way from CT to Texas and I wanted to shoot myself before I switched out. I would schedule more travel time in there since it always seems to take more time than you think. Between gas breaks, food breaks and get me the fuck out of this car breaks haha it adds up.

If if it was me, I would hit up a Colorado resort (excuse my ignorance haha ive never been there), head up to Jackson Hole, down to the Wasatch (Alta, Snowbird etc), then hit up Tahoe your way to LA. You'll probably want a rest day or two in there somewhere. You'll need it.
