There's an expedition happening that you can follow entirely on social media.

ON APRIL 13TH, WE ARRIVE AT BASE CAMP FOR OUR ATTEMPT TO SUMMIT MT. EVEREST WITHOUT SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN.

We’ll be sharing a raw inside look at what it takes to prepare for an expedition like this from our perspectives as well as from our Sherpa teammates and our expedition doctor, all of whom play a crucial role on our team. Once we’re on the mountain, with the help of new satellite technology, we’ll be able to keep you updated in real time, and if all goes as planned, from the top of the world itself. Everest has seen tragedy and controversy grow over the years and with this expedition, we hope to raise awareness and funds to directly impact local communities still devastated by the earthquake and lead the way in sustaining this mountain for both the people of her slopes, and those that dream about reaching her peak. This is truly #EverestNoFilter.

wonder if they'll show any of the dead bodies or mounds of garbage people like them left along the route to the summit.

You could travel around the world and visit 20-30 countries for $30,000.... Or you could climb one mountain with a large chance of dying a cold, miserable death. $30,000 is enough to ski bum for years.

My bad I didn't realize it was a charity thing. I thought it was just a expedition with live feed and what not. But with how popular Everest is, I'm sure it will work out nicely.

For anyone not following, they just reached base camp after a bunch of flight delays and unopen borders.

They share lots of cool info about the expedition, the area, and the customs. It's definitely worth a follow!

Agreed, I'm really digging what they've been showing, highlighting, and discussing. Probably the coolest use of Snapchat yet.

Cory Richards is also the most badass Nat Geo photographer. The guy scored a cover of the magazine with a selfie FFS!

AB and Cory did EverestNoFilter round 2 this year and they summited about 20 mins ago!! AB did it without supplemental oxygen, Cory with o's and same with their Sherpas.

So cool, hope they make it down safe.

Maybe next time they will take the time to learn some mountaineering skills and go to a real mountain.

hahaha dude do you know who you're talking about? These are not some investment bankers who just decided to pay their way up Everest. Both guys have some serious mountaineering accomplishments.

However, I do agree that Everest is not a technical mountain and I hate almost everything about the whole scene, but Cory and Adrian are legit.

Fair enough. I hadn't even read their names before - in general Everest is just one giant yawn to me. True, they are accomplished climbers, so why the hell are they wasting their time among the conga line of high-altitude tourists on Everest?

One of the great tragedies of the physical world is that the highest mountain is Everest. If it was K2, getting to the highest point on Earth would have an entirely different meaning and consequence.

Yeah, I definitely agree re: Everest. Some people just have a thing for it (Adrian has been guiding there for years, and Cory's been up a few times). I think this whole "nofilter" thing is mostly just for the storytelling/publicity aspect.

It would be sweet to see a similar style of reporting for some first ascent expedition, but that's already happening to a degree with Instagram stories.

I watched all of Emily Harrington's updates on the everestnofilter snapchat and it was SO COOL. I thought AB used o's after camp 3 though? Not sure. Either way, super cool thing to follow on social media. Also they're from Tahoe/Truckee so it's definitely cool to have seen them around before like climbing and what not (lowkey saw them at a grocery store in Truckee and fangirled super hard) and to now see AB summit-ing Everest for his 10th(?) time is fucking rad.

Also Emily was so strong in all of her updates! If my dude was up on Everest like exhausted and not using supplemental o's I would be worried and scared and all kinds of freaked out.

AB did not use oxygen, Cory was going to turn around at either camp 3 or one of the steps but then decided to continue with oxygen.

That's cool that you got to see them! I would love to meet that crew someday.
