Do you get burned out towards the end of the season?

I don't come remotely close to losing my stoke, but I swear people just seem happier and more dedicated from December to mid-febuary, then the crowds deteriorate and the vibe gets weird.

It just seems strange... Like people would rather ski in crappy early season conditions than crappy late season conditions. I've also gotten into a lot more conversations and met more people when the snowguns were blowing and a few runs were open in November to December.

Do you notice any change in the general vibe at your hill. I think people act differently as the season winds down and sit out days that they wouldn't normally sit out.

Last year I got burned out at the end of March and didn't even go spring skiing..

However this year I didn't get to go much in the middle of the season because of school, so I'm trying to go as much as possible in the spring, I'm getting stoked for it

Opening day and the few weeks following, I see all kinds of new people. Then I don't see them for the rest of the season. Shits weird

considering the midwest winter was extremely mild, i'm assuming lots of people are ready to hit the lakes and shred weston. go catch a smally or find some sheds

My favorite time of year is probably February and March. There is a good base so the good lines are usually in play on a powder day. I like April too, you still have a good base and get to ski the steeps in slush. I ski Mammoth so the season is very long.

While I don't really get burned out on the skiing, I do get burned out on the drive. I drive to Mammoth for the weekend about 3 times a month, which is an 11 to 12 hour trip. By May I am usually burned out on driving that much and I just can only stomach so many trips. I am still solid in April, but I can usually only get myself to do one trip in May, even though there is good fun slush at that point. By May I get sick of that drive and I'm ready to surf.

In a sense I do get "burned out" in late February/March. Now I still ski bell to bell, and I still go up everyday I can when I am "burned out". When late February rolls around, I just kinda stop doing actual tricks. I don't really try any new tricks or try any hard ones. In February this year I got all the tricks I wanted to learn this season, so I just stopped trying.

I get hyped at the end of the season, this is when I'm going biggest and trying new shit and then as it gets warm I love skiing in a flannel or tshirt, feels so freeing

Vibe changes definitely. But the closer the season comes to ending I think about how long the past off season was and how bad it sucked always thinking about skiing. I don't really get burned out at all I just get sad it's ending.

I think the last 6 weeks of the season are the most fun, but in places like PC where its hot af all march and april, its slushy as fuck which gets old after a bit, super rutted lips, slow snow etc.

That being said, I tend to start golfing this time of year and definitely am getting more stoked for summer, but I still go skiing just as much as I do mid season.

I get burnt out because of work sometimes but I still love spring laps.

The snow is almost always better in spring when its not even crowded an shittier at the start when everyone and their gaper kids are flocking out to the snow

I literally am on hill more days than I am off hill in a weeks time for the entire season, for me on hood this is mid season for me finally locking in the new tricks and now that its slushy its fuck it Huck it season and I learn the most. Even with the entirely shit snow last summer on hood I rode till August 5th and had a fuckin blast everyday. For me personally its a 12minute drive to go shred so The only thing i get burnt out on is sleep deprivation lol

Envious of that drive. I'm 85 miles away and the drive is getting pretty old. I'm up to 54 days this season all in Oregon and all while working full time in Salem.
Spring skiing is so worth it even if the snow gets cooked by early afternoon. This is Oregon plus I work inside so getting those rays on the hill is almost as good as fresh snow. I'll stay stoked as long as there is snow to slide on.

I would say this describes me. Skiing is my favorite thing to do, I absolutely love it, but I don't live for it anymore. If I did live for it I would still live in the mountains, still ski everyday and work nights so I could get 120+ days a year. Skiing was my entire life for 5 years, and at the end of the season I would be really bummed. Now I work in an office and ski 35 days a year, so I would call it my favorite hobby, but not my entire life like it once was. Still, I do get bummed when the season is over. If I did not have to drive 5.5 hours each way for my weekends I would probably ski more in May, and if the season lasted until June I would ski then too. For me it is the drive I get burned out on, not the skiing, but I do have to call skiing a hobby now. When I lived in Tahoe it was my entire life.

Spring is so much better. You don't freeze to death and it isn't dark all the time. But now that I don't live in Finland anymore and have to ski in indoor domes I don't have to worry about conditions or weather :D

as oregondead said above it gets burnt out by 11-12 that's when I head out to go hike go fish swim explore do whatever considering its hood and everything usually hit bed by 4pm then wake up work all night repeat.

this.. And the fact that slams dont hurt, today if it was mid season firm I would of broke my shoulder and knocked myself out today taking a digger

I'm in ski boots 6 days a week, 5 of which for almost 11 hours. My feet are totally fucked up, knee is banged up....I'm a little burned out, but snow helps

Absolutely, resort closes on Sunday but I think I'm already done for the season. Last few times I've gone out I just make a couple runs on groomers and go home. I might just be burned out on skiing in general, though, living in the mountains really makes me miss the ocean.

I do, but I think it is due to a combination of things.
1) Driving - isn't too bad (~1:45 each way) but going often gets tiring.
2) Don't know anyone dedicated enough to ski with past February/Mid-March and I fall into a routine of not trying new stuff and riding the same parts of the mountain
3) Mountain biking weather

With that said I hope to get at least 4 more days in.

Well here in Ontario, there is the Sandy Boville Invitational at the end of each season at MSLM. For us this is the most hyped time of year.

It depends how much time i've spend at the snow that season.. if I do the whole season i feel a lot more like a fair weather skier and don't ski as hard during spring, but then if i can only get up a few weeks for the season then i'll be there skiing until last chair!

I love the vibe of a weekend in may at killi or sunday river here and there but I sail for most of the spring and summer and that keeps me from going crazy from not skiing. It's actually pretty fun especially with friends and at regattas.

Not burned out of skiing itself but I'm not dying to ski 8-4 everyday still just enjoying my time outside with my friends. I do get SO sick of driving 3 hours to vt though one way which isn't bad but just long enough to suck

Late march trips to Killington with the boys is pretty much the best time I could have. That said, by mid April, most of the east coast is pretty closed and I basically move on from skiing. I also love to golf and mountain bike, which are 2 great summer activities, so moving on from skiing isn't really that difficult.

Nah, I just dont ski all day but still get as many days in as I can. Springtime out here is pretty rad because you can go hard and lap all day, and then head back to your place with plenty of light left to kick it on the deck/patio, grill some meats, drink, and watch the sunset across the valley or behind the mtns up here. Best of both worlds, you get your fun summertime activities mixed with a little bit of skiing in there too.

The last two seasons prior to this, I skied 150+ days and I would not say I was burned out, I was just exhausted. My body was beat, but I was still stoked to ski. This year, I am sadly just a weekend warrior and I am still just as excited on skiing now as I was in October.

I'm usually stoked all season but i had a bad crash and kinda got scared of flipping and wouldn't try any new flips and at the beginning i was send all kinds of new stuff and would crash some times and just try again but nope just kinda got stuck in a pussy stage and though its almost over ill just stop trying and just get way stoked over the summer and be good for next winter .

Usually i get burnt out on day 20 or so but I missed 6 weeks of a 10 week season in ohio and I got 17 days in out of 28 possible somehow and wanted more.

It's just been a rough past couple years for PA. With the lack of snow and warm/rainy days, there weren't too many days when the conditions were great.

It also is rough when you've been skiing the same hill for 10ish years. There's not much new going on.

My favorite days tho are retro day and the pond skim. Wish I could have made it to the meltdown but oh well. At 21 days, this has been my shortest season in years and I went just about every weekend.

So yes I do feel like I get burned out so most the time, my friends and I ski like from 9-2 anymore.

why don't you move? Go to college somewhere else? Look for a new job somewhere else? If skiiing is that important to you...its worth it and plenty of opportunity out there. I could never imagine growing up in one of the shitty fly over states. PA,NJ...all the same. PS...love those who defend new jersey. Easily one of the shittiest states in the US. Can't understand why someone would move there family there unless it was for a certain sum of money or job. I would move there but would need at least 500,000 a year at a minimum

Never burnt out, maybe a few times this season where I've been bummed at how shitty is has been but even then I can't stay negative for more than a few minutes. I live for sunny spring days on the hill, March-April is arguably my favorite time and it sucks we didn't get that this year. The day after my last day of skiing my first thought is always "how long until next season now?"
