Need some help with downloadable files

I need a site that can host a downloadable file by a link connection. Tried searching and found some random sites I dont trust. Anyone know of any sites that provide this for free?

google drive/ dropbox/ share link if you're just sharing for yourself and friends, mediafire is pretty solid otherwise. If you've got a spare computer lying around you can set up a server yourself, plenty of instructions of how to do this on the web.
