Just a quick question - what manufacturers are still putting out a decent line of manual trucks.

its aaaaaaaaalll gone dude... manual transmitions are too hard for the world, soon auto corolla's are going to take over everything. actually, buy a tacoma, i have a few friends that have them and their sick trucks.

I know thats why I asked, manuals just seem to be dying out.
Well right now I've got a Toyota Half Ton Pickup, which is the predecessor to the Tacoma. She's 12 years old, but an absolute beast. Best 4 wd I've used, decent handling, just a great lightweight truck.
Do the new Tacomas come with a manual option? Or am I going to have to go foraging for a used one when the time comes?

pretty sure that right now, pretty much any vehicle comes with manual option. at least any of the models I've looked at.

nissan's 350z 6-speed tranny is decent, the clutch is almost too picky though

Yea, I was just poking around, and as far as trucks, manual 4wd seems to be a pretty stock option. Which is nice, granted I won't be looking or anything until my truck dies, but thats nice to be sure of.
Manual tranny for life.

Manual Trannies and New Models
i thought you were talking about transsexuals and supermodels
I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

I've heard Toyota makes a mean standard transmission.
And yes, almost every car comes with a manual option... it's actually cheaper that way.

I was actually just on the toyota website. The new tacoma has an optional 245 horse V6 with a 6 speed stick. The 245 is so damn much for a truck of that size. I've got a 94 t100 2.7 inline 4 with 5 speed. it's dope as hell but underpowered. New the engine supposedly put out 116, but at 7000 feet and 11 years later I'm guessing it's below 100. I dont really care, tho. It cruises at 85 mph at 22-25 miles a gallon and the tranny, while not a short throw in any sense, is smooth as hell. Pop it into low and it'll climb anything, fully loaded. I put a new topper on it last fall and come spring I'm gonna build a frame that I can put a mattress on and sleep in. It's the ultimate kayakmobile.

ecandrew and I must have similar trucks. right now they're on the 6th version, which was preceeded by the t100, which was preceeded by the one I have now. the first t100 was like 94 or 95, but I forgot that I always just call it a t100 because people always give me a hard time. Toyotas are definitely one of the better truck makers. mine's got like 135,000 and the only thing I've ever had go wrong was a snapped E brake cable which was like $15. If I ever need a new vehicle, it will be a toyota truck. I kinda dont like where they've gone with the styling this year, though. It looks too much like a 00/01 ranger. The older ones have mad style.
