Wakeskate construction

yeah, i made my first one. its super easy to make it, but the rocker is the hard part. i soaked it in the bathtub for a long time (i cant remmember how long it was, but maybe a few days - a week or so). then ithink i went with a 1.5 inch rocker so i made a little 'holder' that had 1.5 inch high ends on it and i put a crapload of weight in the middle.
then i put griptape on it and put some crazy-ass paint shit on it so that it didnt absorbe much water.

in the end, after i got the hang of it for a week or two i ended up buying one, and its not a whole lot different but its definitely better. the griptape on it is lethal, i practically ripped open my knuckles on it on a daily basis.

Yeah getting the thing to bend for the rocker seems the hardest part. I haven't heard about soaking the ply in the bath before, any problems with water damage to the wood? I suppsoe its probably best to allow a little more extra with the rocker for some 'springback' once you take off the weight/clamps.

actualy yes, your right, i think i did make it like 2 inches cause i knew it would 'spring back'. like i said, it was like 2 years ago when i made mine so i dont really remmember how i did it.

but yes, the bathtub seemed like a logical idea to me and i found out that a lot of other people had used that method aswell.

if you want to chose the shape yourself, get a bunch of strips of wood that are about 3 inches high by 1 inch wide by however inches long (a good length would be 112 cm so around 44 inches). glue them all together so you have one big block of wood that is 3 inches tall, 44 inches long a maybe 15 inches wide. When it's dry, use a chisel do get the basic shape (but don't over chisel, leave lots of extra wood) and a planer to make things perfect. Then put 4 coats of laminate.
Get some shallow (maybe .7 inch) fins from your local shop. bolt em on.
Throw on some grip tape or high density foam.

That's pretty much it.
