Going to be at A basin on monday for a day. First time at the mountain...anyone have any recommendations for spots to check out / must ski areas? Not really interested in the park looking at riding some steeps and some solid terrain. No out of bounds since i'll be riding solo...but definitely looking for some good boot packs to get to some gnarlier terrain
have only been to abay once this year so i dont know what its looking like up there rn, but definitely sesh the shit out of pallavicini. it's easily the best terrain off a double chair ive ever skied, good variety too. all of it is steep. if youre looking to do some hikes, try fucking around on east wall, you end up following a ridge and can drop pretty much wherever.
honestly, when the snow is good abay is one of the best mountains ive ever skied. terrain is on fuckin point and you will find cool stuff wherever you go. not too expansive either, you will definitely be able to check out a good amount of the mountain.
I just skied a basin last Saturday and it was sick. In the morning we took a few laps on Montezuma bowl which made for some nice soft lines in the morning then it was fucking pounding snow for the rest of the day. We would have skied East wall but the visibility was too shitty in the afternoon so we lapped pallavacini and skied like every possible line which was a good time too. It was some of the best skiing on the trip out of breck key and copper especially if you get fresh sno and the atmosphere is pretty chill too.
