I was wonderen wich video camera was good for ski footage. One that would hold up well in ny weather and that wasnt to expansive.

i would vote sony...we had a canon then it broke and was unfixable...i think sonys hold up a little better.

i got a new sony handcam hc 30. its really small and has lots of features. i highly reccomend it.

i agree with lostcarkeys about a lens--a fisheye lens helps a ton with follow cams and general good footage. i dont think a decent fisheye is too expensive either. mos def a good investment.

sony handcam hc 30. i got it for 300 bucks at best buy on sale. and they sell a wideangle and telefoto lens kit for like 50 that fits it.

sorry i dont have model but you might search ebay for a battery that fits whatever cam you end up getting...if you can find a generic one that fits your cam you'll save a lot of $$ and get lots of extra recording hours.

but as for a specific model, go to best buy, soundtrack, or something like that and talk to someone. they can help youout

panasonic pv gs 120. is a 3chip. not real expensive. it shoots well too

sonys have night shot on um, you could also get a light but those drain the battery quick

I'd recommend the Canon Gl-2 with a high-quality fisheye and the acc. light for sure, but unless you have a good job or are willing to take out a loan it might be too expensive. I love mine though, all I've used it for is skiing and it's incredible.

dont listen to thees peepl, go for the Sony VX-1000 or maybe the VX-2100.....2100 is newer and a little more expensive, but the VX-1000 has better contrast quality wich is important wen filming on snow....ive found them on ebayy for as cheap as 1,350 wich is a steal ! then just throw on the most gangster fisheye u can find and uve got a proffessional grade camera my friend....other than 16mm, thats wut all the pros use to film

he said cheap though man, 1300 isnt cheap for most people. go to best buy and play wit all the cameras and find one u like and then look on the net to get a good price on it

SONY VX 1000,get one of these, but i dont kno where you could get one for under 500 haha, and whetever you do paul, dont get a really small camera, it makes it a lot harder to hold steady shots which definitely makes follow shots look worse...

i think somebody mentioned it up a little higher...battery life. look for one with the longest battery life possible. also an off-camera charger will help out a ton. buy a second battery and charge one while you shoot. you can have a $4k video camera but without an extra battery you'll spend more time sitting on your ass waiting for a charge than actual time on the snow filming.

all's i can say is look for a refurbished camera. i spent $300 on mine but it was like an $800 camera. and refurbished just means it was sent back to the company for whatever reason, it doesnt mean it was broken, then fixed necesarily. and u can still get the same warranties usually.
