^That's about the logic you can expect when you post these kinds of threads here... but at least he's up front about it.

I figured that the pistols were better, but you can always use a little bit of extra input. I am having a wicked time trying to find any in SLC.

if your doing bc booters a lot get the ARV for sure
if your more into hucking big cliffs-30+ your gunna want the pistol
Both are equally good in the park
ARVs have a better core
Pistols have a better Top sheet
You cant go wrong with either

Please explain why you think the pistols have a better core?

Basically, Pistols are stiffer, ARVs are longer. For what the 185 lacks in waste it makes up in length. I own ARVs and find them awesome for all conditions, but I also like them because i prefer a softer ski so I can ride the bohemuth in the park. It pretty much comes down to how much of a noodle you want.

^Er... You realize the pistol comes in more than one length, right? The 189 is longer... and they aren't stiffer than this year's ARVs.

the pistols are like the softest fat twin out
ARVs are stiffer

and the ARVs core is better because it is an actual plank of wood instead or thousands of woodchips being glue together-plywood instead or real wood...ARVs core will last longer and you have less of a chance of bindings ripping out

^Where did you get that idea? Because I've seen a cross-sectioned PE before, and it didn't look like a wood-chip thing. Are you sure?
At any rate, they're good enough for Seth.

ive heard that from a lot of people..it may not be true but ive heard about bindings ripping out of ffujatives a lot

Yes, but fujatives are disposable skis. I've never heard of anyone ripping bindings out of pistols... I'm sure it's happened, but not often. Hah... there's a reason for the 400$ price gap between the two skis, you know.

pistols have a normal wood core. they are also super super super soft. arvs r stiff.
dont get it twisted

If you guys think the ARVs are stiff, you've never ridden them. Yes, the Pistols come in 189, but not many people have that length. Like i said, you want softer, go w/ Armada. You wont have quality issues with either.

i have both skis...arv 175 and pistol 179...pistols are better for super deep pow (waist deep or more) but the arv is fine for pow too.
the arv carves better and makes much tighter turns...the seth pistol likes to make larger turns and run a little more.
the pistol is very soft, the arv is a lot snappier and poppy.
i ride both in the pipe, prefer the arv.
prefer the pistol in super deep pow.
the arv is my all around ski...if i had to have one pair it would be the arv. they are plenty wide to do anything...a lot quicker edge to edge than the pistols. the pistols float insane...but the arv is more versatile.
the arv skis bumps much better and carves with more grip. it's quicker edge to edge.
this is my honest opinion, i have both arv's and pistols. i prefer the arv. demo them both for 2 days each and see how you like them.

Jdmay you obviously arent to bright. Soooo many pairs of bindings rip out of the pistols, especially the older models. I ripped both my heel pieces out and took it into the shop and they laughed and said thats about the 100th pair they have seen this season. I guess k2 being idiots never put a mounting sheet in the ski so you mount your bindings straight into weak ass wood instead. Brilliant k2, ill be sure to give you my business in the future with shitty manufacturing like that....stupid asians.

Show me one shop, nationwide, that has warrantied 100 pairs of Seth Pistols in a year. How many shops even SELL that many pairs of one ski?!

So does K2 use pressboard for their core or actual wood?
In other news, I've never heard anyone call JD stupid before. Guess there is a first time for everything.

you just called the smartest member of this site stupid... You should excuse yourself, Jd's just putting his input in there, and i'd believe him way more than you...
Anyways, I have ARV's and I think they're a great all around ski. They rip in powder and if like me your not very big youll find them perfect because of their stiffness, which is just fine for mem not too stiff not too soft. They can definetely grip an edge everywhere, groomers and park, so if your looking for an all around ski I could tell you to buy the ARV's, but since I havent tried the pistols and I've heard a lot of good feedback about them being a great all around ski also, you'll probably be satisfied by any of the pairs...
