J_SI use final cut pro because its pretty easy to use when compared to adobe software, but still produces nice edits.
Final Cut X is garbage in my opinion, it looks like imovie, it pisses me off. FCP 7 was the tits but then they stopped updating it when X came out, so I moved on to premiere. IMO premiere is really the only option for editing, but in the end your editing program wont make your edits "better". FCP or Premiere can do the exact same things, its just all based on personal preference. Hell imovie can produce nice edits, its just depends on how you use it.
OP, if you're using apple, try out imovie, if you're on windows im not entirely sure how windows movie maker is these days, but im sure its similar to imovie. If either of these are too simple, try out premiere, its only $20/mo.
