Here's my plan on how to build a cheap flat bar rail. You can use this plan for any type of flat bar rail like a kink. It uses lexan instead of metal and at my home depot i get it for 14 bucks a sheet so its a better deal than metal
Supports = lumber
- get lumber 2 thick and the desired height you want for the rail
- mount the top sheet base (plywood) to as many supports as you feel necisary – use countersinking
- do that ^ BEFORE you put the lexan onto the plywood
Top Sheet = lexan
- get 2x4 sheet at home depot - $14
- get cut in strips of 2 x 4’ – 12 strips – 48 feet length of topsheet
- ask for some glue for lexan at home depot and use that to put the lexan on the plywood (note: you need a caulking gun)
Top Sheet Base = plywood
- use 1 piece of left over plywood from the box – 1x8
- get cut into desired lengths of 2 strips
Base of Rail = any kind of wood, preferably a sturdy one
- screw the supports into the base of the rail
- make sure they form a 90 degree angle or your rail will be crooked
Sry about some of it being out of order it came to me last night and i just wanted to write it down as quick as possible.
