broken internet/router. what do I do?

i have a dlink router and a motorola cable modem with comcast service. last sunday, my internet stopped working for some reason. the connection is there, and when i direct link the computer to the modem its fine, but my router doesnt seem to be working. how do i fix this? i tried to turn off and unplugg everything, but that didnt work. how to i properly configure my router?

Reset the router. Then follow the installation intructions that came with the router.

Yea I run a LinkSys system.

Like he said, just reinstall everything. If you rebooting the network (including shutting everything down on the computer, not just unplugging wires -> comp continues to run the programs) then just do a reinstall. That's a solid option.

you modem most likely went to shit. i had that problem for months, i had time warner cable replace the modem they gave me and it worked right away.

whoa i have the exact same setup as you, mine works fine, did you install the disc that came with the router (if it did) and theres a little reset switch on the back of mine and you had to press that to make it work

i think the power cord fell out of the router. some minor shit like that happens and the whole fuckin system stops.
