I know absolutely nothing about the east coast or Manhattan but aren't there a lot of trains/transit options there? I bet you could get a day pass or something and just explore

I always tell people just google a list of awesome restaurants and go around having drinks / apps at all of them such a fun way to spend the day here. I recently did the iron chef tour and went around to all of the iron chefs restaurants. Food was unreal and the drinks were amazing. Though it was quite an expensive day.

If you want a real Manhattan experience, you cough up some money. A lot of money. Go to a Broadway show (PM me if you want specific recommendations, but all are good). Go see some standup comedy. Go to a nice, a really nice, restaurant.

On the cheap, you can go to the museums. Most of them you can choose what you want to pay. The Guggenheim is free. Go wander Central Park. Belvedere Castle is free and good for 15 minutes of amusement. Go see the amazing universities of Columbia and NYU, both free to walk around campus. Go to Chinatown and laugh at how many people try to sell you "100% real" Rolexes for next to nothing. Choose one common product and make it your goal to get it for a set price. Go to as many different shops as necessary in your quest. Everything is able to be haggled over there.

Pretend to be a baller and go shopping on 5th Avenue. Go try on a $10,000 jacket and a $1,000 t-shirt. Put a (real this time) $100,000 watch on your wrist. Go to a rooftop lounge somewhere. Go to the 9/11 memorial, it is certainly worth it once.

There, those are some on-the-cheap recommendations. However, every time I have spent money in Manhattan, it has been worth it. The restaurants, the shows, etc, have all been amazing and absolutely worth the price of admission.

You're wrong sir. I came with my family and we balled out pretty hard over the week. However, I had a day to myself and didn't want to spend any more money (especially when it's my own hahaha). Plus, I was sick of all the touristy attractions. I wanted to really experience the city in a different way than everyone who goes to NYC as a tourist.

Fuck you guys are ripping on me. I felt like it was an experience needed to be had. If your honestly curious we went to Pizza Keste, Lombardis, Katz's Deli, Blue Ribbon Sushi, The Smith, and I forget the name of the pasta place. So we did pretty good on food.
