The D7100 is just the newer updated version of the D7000, so they're pretty similar in terms of practicality and handling, but the D7100 has far better specs, such as more megapixels (24 compared to 16) and greater photo resolution etc. This comparison can show you all the specs you might need to figure out which one will work better for you:

Essentially it just comes down to whether you think you need/can afford the slightly better D7100, or just stick with the cheaper but still very good D7000
