SkiBum.Vail doesn't care
eheathEasy solution I've found for yellow jackets: Ski like a normal person for 2 seconds of your life while you pass them.
I've been skiing a ton the last couple months on weekends (weekdays as well, but you dont see many yellow coats on weekends) and pass yellow jackets every day, they never have a problem with my skiing, as I ski controlled and like a normal human being for the brief moment they see me. Its really that easy folks.

hot.pocketMost of these "wah wah wah my pass almost got taken" threads seem like they could be easily avoided by following this simple rule.
frickindarnI know to slow down near yellow jackets; I keep my head on a swivel ALWAYS and make turns so I'm not straight lining. I know how to fucking ski. I used to work at key. I've literally never had a problem but today literally all I did was an Ollie. And patrol yelled at me like I did something wrong. Not a yellow jacket. I even have a keystone safety avenger sticker on my helmet because I'm always so respectful and understand the rules. I'm usually on your side of the argument but what happened today just blows my mind. There wasn't any "no jumping" signs or slow down signs.
eheathYeah that definitely happens, it's a pain in the ass but sometimes you just have to nod, say yes sir and move on.
EbolaJust out ski them....most ski patrol are usually in there 50s with bad backs and arthritis when u ski by dont stop ever.
californiagrownOdd. Most of the patrol in my area fucking rip.

zakattack66You're too fat to ski anything but normal.

vailsux.comor you could say fuck off and stop supporting the machine.
Skiing shouldn't be a pain in the ass especially at a resort where you are supposed to be a guest.
Fuck vail
and Donald Trump for that matter.
BASEDJAHbeing 3 feet away from someone on a ski hill is super close dude
casualI was thinking the same thing. To OP, it's springbreak in summit dude. Everyone has had enough, there's mayhem, so many collisions, serious injuries, and you being a local, you think you would ease off the pedal a lil in highly crowded areas or on flattish groomers chock full of beginners. Even if you're under control, you have effects on those around you not as good. It's not all about you. And, if it was actually a patroller, I know those guys, and I basically guarantee you weren't stopped simply for an ollie. More likely, you were skiing like a jerk and like it was a tuesday in January with the place to yourself and you got yoked up. Oh well. Boo hoo.
And vailsux- go earn your turns, go skin in any one of the plethora of drainages outside your fucking back door and it's a moot point. Buy a sled and have at it. Get a pass to Abay or Loveland or WP or somewhere less corporate an rule oriented. and, being respectful and even pretendingly apologetic when collared for knowingly breaking a rule isn't "supporting the machine", you buying a pass in the first place is. Being obstinate and defiant and a jerk is pretty much just being an asshole and entitled.
This stuff isn't difficult, just be a decent human being and remember that the tourists make the whole system possible and dial it back a touch on beginner trails or high flow areas during holidays and there's no issue.
frickindarn. I've literally never had a problem but today literally all I did was an Ollie.
skiermanMaybe you used the word "literally" one too many times and he got literally pissed off.

SPK_Well, apparently at Vail resorts you don't even really need much to be banned. Being punched in the liftline is a valid reason to be apparently.

What's the other version of this story, I don't know. But damn, as if it was even possible, Vail reached a new .
207I'm not going to believe or disbelieve this lady's story until I hear the other side of the argument. That being said, this bitch really had me at the line "People say Wesley is fearless on a Snowboard...but Wes told me he's never been so afraid" after she got punched really had me going. Boo fucking hoo your 9 year old son who spends his ENTIRE WINTER traveling to the best mountains and terrain parks in the U.S. to train and film watched you get into a physical altercation that you started yourself. Give me a fucking break the kid I'm sure the kid will make it. This lady just sounds like your stereotypical overly emotional Midwestern soccer mom in over her head in the culture of the West Coast
207"I’ve been snowboarding with my kids in terrain parks for years, and have never come across ANY environment such as the one we encountered at NorthStar. I had to ride through and inhale a cloud of marijauna smoke with my child each time we exited the lift and entered the top of the park. The snowboarders were out of control, dangerous, and belligerent… my 9 year-old son was screamed at while trying to use the park features. He was clearly unwelcome there because of his age, despite being a talented up and coming rider (he’s previously filmed a segment for The Today Show at your Breckenridge resort)."
That quote right there alone proves my point over the stereotypical overly emotional Midwestern soccer mom in over her head in the culture of the West and shows that she had a grudge from the beginning. I bet her precious 9 year old was the one cutting people.
Bram.V.Laere.In Europe ski patrol doesn't give a shit
casualMaybe in New York, or Michigan, or something.....not out west. Maybe on a weekend on the lower mountain on beginner terrain at some mountains, but most patrollers who are paid fulltime at western resorts are ski bum rippers at best, and very competent advanced intermediates at worst. You get the stray oldtimer who has everyone's respect and has been doing it forever and is simply just in the twilight, but I guarantee you most those dudes and gals would cook you.
