Holes too close?

I recently pulled the trigger on some Adrenalin 16 bindings and some lightly used Armada JJ 2.0s

The JJs were mounted with the Atomic STH 13 binding but I wanted the AT option.

When I set the transparent template down on the ski this is what I got: ( short mount)

Front:



Back:



Should I be concerned?

The distance is about 3/8' or 9-9.9mm

This article suggests I'm in the clear:

But most people are saying 1cm away or 10mm, shops trying to get me to drop $40 to have them drill holes...

Thoughts?

I would say it is not ideal, but should be fine. I have mounted skis at a similar distance and have not yet had problems yet.

Unless the new hole is directly over the old hole, there is no issue.

Seriously, sometimes Ive had to drill partially into the plastic plug that i put into the old hole. the rule there is that if the new hole doesn't go more than 50% over the old spot, there is no worry. If there is a metal laminate you can drill for days into that

there was a post on black diamond's blog regarding strength of new holes. they pretty much figured that anything pat 8mm was as good as it gets. anything closer than that and your likelyhood of bindings ripping out goes up by about 10% per 1mm or something similar.
