The
DJI Phantom 3 Advanced is the best consumer AP drone on the market. The range is ridiculously long, I have easily flown my P3 over a mile away with perfect HD FPV video feed. The camera is integrated into the gimbal and is much better than a GoPro for this purpose as it has a flat field of view and does not suffer from fish eye distortion. The P3 shoots breathtaking buttery smooth HD video right out of the box. As a still camera, the P3 really shines (shoots JPEG and RAW) with a wide range of customizable features all accessible from miles away thru the app. The App is amazing with full control of everything imaginable from the camera controls to battery discharge day (lipo batteries should be stored at 60-70% charge and the DJI batteries auto discharge in 3-10 days depending on what you choose in the app). You can toggle between the FPV view and a Map that shows your course track and orientation, really cool. The flight time is a bit over 20 minutes which is outstanding. The P3 uses both the U.S. and Russian GPS systems which seems to dramatically increase accuracy and reliability, the days of GPS caused "fly always" may be over. If you run into trouble, or lose signal, or just want to use the bathroom inside the house, hit return to home and the P3 will return to home at a pre set height and land itself within a couple of feet of where it took off. Virtually idiot proof if you read the directions and calibrate the compass. There is quite a bit of detail to master (upgrading the firmware, calibrating the IMU (internal measurement unit), learning the fine points of the App, so be prepared for a little bit of study.
