Broken Collarbone

Soooo broke my collarbone Friday, wasn't a complete break so I guess that's good? Pic down below.

Anyways my question to you is... How long til I can ski again? Doctor said 6 weeks til its fully healed with 4 weeks in the sling. But idk how long til I can do shit again, so fill me in ;)

Also if anyone has any raw footage of skiing they could send me that'd be sweet, I want to do a bunch of editing while I'm out.

Good luck on recovery. Might be out as well with a blown shoulder...again. on the way back from trip out west so planning on editing footy as well!

Thats a pretty nice break you got lucky. I was out 6 weeks and then started to play hockey again..(thats how i broke it) and then it wasnt fully healed and i was out for a couple more weeks. I was back in 9 weeks

Mine looked similar to your break, except mine was fully broken and broken in another place down the side. /claim Anyway, I was hurting bad for the first week, you stop feeling general pain at about week 2, stopped wearing sling at week 4, then I think i was swinging a golf club at about 7 weeks with a little pain then about 8 weeks fully healed.

my doc gave me a weird thing to pull it back into place, it dint work so if im correct its at 38 degrees. but its your thread so ill tip in. Im pretty a pretty cooky person so I went to hockey practice two days later but only skating and opposite arm.

If its not too cold you can ski prolly two days or three after just go easy and get someone to put your boots on and only if its warm tho ( it is march you know) but its not wise to ski just stupid and i heard you where supposed to be going to whistler

Thanks for the advice! Hoping to do some filming for an event in 2 weeks time. Think that'd be chill? Wouldn't be much moving, mainly stationary tripod work

When I had a complete break in mine I think I was back skiing within 4-5 days. It was dumb and I'll probably regret it later in life. I didn't do any tricks just maybe a small roller hop now and then but thats it.

Take your time on it. Let it heal correctly.

I tried using a glide cam and it was terrible. Tripod I'd your best bet

broke mine at the end of last year, a few weeks before the season ended. so coming back to skiing wasn't an issue, but it was right before baseball and i missed about 6-7 weeks of that, mine was a complete break though, so yours should heal in like a month.

I broke my collar bone friday, 12 hours before my flight left for steamboat, pretty shitty way to start my spring break. Anywho, I had a similiar break to yours, my doctor said that I should be clear for all activity in a month, maybe 3 weeks. The good thing is Colar bones heal very quickly, my doctor even said I could ski piste trails by next week if I was very careful. But that wouldn't be much fun, and I live in maryland and there is no snow left what so ever.

Hmm maybe I'll give my hand at some piste skiing this weekend, got some solid snow here in the west

fuck that's rough, hoping mine can get most of its strength back so its not too easy to break again

also you said u were gonna try and do some filming. Since I cant play lax for a month I started filming my team, glidecams are difficult but i dont really use them when filming sport games. Anyway I can still handle a tripod and its a good way to pass the time until i can play agian.

That's dope! How long after you broke it did you film this? Was going to use tripod only for the event. Just wondering how much it'll hurt lol, will be two weeks after I broke it

IT doesnt hurt at all if u position ur self right, I needed help setting up the tripod and changing lenses was a tiny bit painful but aside from that ull be fine

Broke my collarbone doing the stupidest thing ever, holding on to a tail grab for too long. Anyways, my break was pretty shitty so I needed surgery and within a week or so I was back on skis. Yours doesn't look horrible but i'd definitely take it easy and maybe take a couple groomer laps if you want to ski that bad. As for the filming, listen to pops, just position yourself and don't hesitate to ask for a bit of help.
