Affordable park skiing strategies

So as everyone knows park skiing rips a hole in all of our pockets. In the last 2 years I've gone through 4 Park skis and have spent a lot on lift tickets and many other ski related expenses. This year I got unlucky and blew out my cars transmission and my computer broke. Stuff like this sucks but life hits sometimes I'm now saving up for a ski trip after getting set back 4 grand. Because I'll be constantly saving for ski trips and other important necessities please let me know if you know any good ways to save ur self from over spending especially when skiing. Or if you know any great methods to save and not over spend.

If you go through 4 pairs a season then stock up at the end of this season because then you will be able to get the most deals from end of the year sales, also packing a lunch helps a lot I could easily spend 15 bucks on food when I go but if you pack your lunch with maybe 5 dollars worth of stuff then your saving 10 bucks a trip

I would start by saying buy used skis, it is what I have always done and it saves a lot of money especially if you are going through 2 pairs of skis per year. Maybe you should just buy a seasons pass to save money on lift tickets and 4 grand for a ski trip is an insane amount of money. You should be able to do it for about $1500 if you are smart and even less if you can find places to stay for free and hook ups on lift tickets

This would help save money in the short term, but you would end up going through more skis because the used ones will not have as much life left in them.

Dulling your edges before you use your new skis really saves them in the long run. Ramen with some franks red hot, cuts down on food costs big time and it tastes way better.

You probably do this already, but packing a sandwich or something is really helpful especially at park city where the food is crazy expensive

I wish... $20 a g pain in the aynoos.

Buy second hand gear, you can find basically new gear for way cheaper then new. The Sell and Trade forum here has heaps of good cheap shit. Buying last years gear also can save quite a lot.

Also tune your own skis. It's not hard and it's a valuable skill to have and you save money after the initial investment of equipment (wax irons, brushes, gummy stones, etc).

Buy durable fucking skis. 2.5x2.5 mm edges full wrap will last you so much longer than a piece of shit ski.

It may cost more upfront but in the long run will be better.

Buy some skis, tune the edges to your liking, and carve like hell. Definitely avoid rails if you want your skis to last.

Buy used if u can find a good deal especially in the sell and trade thread on NS. Also buy online like evo, its much better than in store. No offense but shops are shitty and fuck you over. I go in places and laugh because I see them selling skis I can buy for $200 cheaper online. Also buying day tickets is a horrible idea. Just buy a seasons pass. not sure why u are dropping that much on ski trips too. Just ski ur local mountain as much as possible because that's the way to save money and get good.

Buy the most expensive shit at the cheapest prices. Also looks for skis with full edge, for me they have tended to last longer.

I'm starting to believe edge dimensions don't matter at all. My skis have 2.5 x 2.5 edges and a friend uses a pair of surface pow skis in the park with paper thin edges, after a season of skiing the edges held up about the same. I even babied my edges and would debur after every day, he just did an initial detune.
