Extremely Canadian

What up nsers,
I was planning a trip to whistler for either Christmas or February next year and was thinking about doing extremely Canadian backcountry. Have any of you done it? What were your experiences with them? I'm a advanced intermediate skier and was thinking about doing it. Thoughts?

Intermediate in the backcountry, could get difficult. You'll need some ability to ski anything and everything with style and ease before tackling the backcountry unless its intermediate terrain.

I can ski pretty much anything here on the east coast with ease but I know it's very different out there

By what do you mean "extremely Canadian back country" ?
like there will be a Tim Hortons at the bottom of the cat runs? I think that all skiing in Canada is extremely Canadian from my experience

It's a program located in whistler where they have back country guides and run courses such as how to ski back country and all of the safety aspects

For all those confused: Extremely Canadian is a guiding company out of Whistler.

I've heard alright things!

I took my AST from Altus Mountain guides. Our guide was a total class act, would highly recommend looking into them as an alternative to extremely.

if you've never skied outside the east coast, the in bounds terrain at WB is going to be more than enough to keep you busy.

I've skied whistler before, but I was not as good of a skier as I am now.

But yeah op i've heard their guides are real nice and treat you more like a friend then a client...

I've been out with Extremely Canadian. They showed us the goods, we had a stupidly deep day of skiing and they were fun people to ski and hang out with. Would recommend.

This year, while out there I did my second trip with them, last year I did my first. I loved it. They won't take you on crazy shit, unless they ask and you say yes. They will always ask what you want to do. I would say if you can ski all/ most of at least the single blacks at whistler you are in perfect shape. If you can only rip the blues let them know that'd you'd rather ski some deep pow rippers not steeps and deeps. They will accommodate you since you are paying them, and since the guides at extremely Canadian are super friendly. Be prepared to be exhausted since skinning is hard. Go for it, you'll be good enough for everything (they haven't taken me on anything that I've said "shit, I'm not making it down this with clean pants), also I've skied my deepest powder ever while with them last year (almost always group tours btw sometimes you'll luck out and it will be solo but they always try to avoid that).

Do it! I've had the pleasure of skiing with them a bunch over the years, and I end up learning and pushing myself harder more in one day than I do in the whole season. Just do it.
