Salomon STH Steel + Quiver Killers/Binding freedom?

I'd just drop the $300 on another pair of bindings. I've not used quiver killers, but the prospect of changing them out every time I wanted to ski a different pair seems like a huge pain, especially if there was snow overnight or a last minute change.

If you do drill them, I believe the drill pattern on my STH 12 Drivers was the same as my current STH2 16s, so as long as Salomon doesn't totally change the binding, you're probably good for a couple model years, too.

Do it and dont look back man! I had a pair of 916s and they had over 750 days when i sold em and they were still as bomber as day one! Not to mention you can put a tech binding on a pair or two and have a great touring setup.

And to the guy above, it takes 10 mins MAX to swap the bindings. 5 if you have the right bit and a drill.

I would just post over on TGR tat you're looking for 916s and pick up some more bindings instead.

Also, the 16-DIN Salomon 900 and 997e share the same hole pattern. They're much cheaper. I've got boxes of them in reserve.

I'd say go for it. I've been using Binding Freedom on all my personal skis, as well as most of the NS test fleet. The convenience of being able to hot swap your bindings is a huge plus. Not only do they save you a ton of money, its a bonus to be able to travel with multiple flat skis and just one set of bindings.

Like someone said, a swap is less than 10min, and I often do them right in the back of the truck in the parking lot while getting ready in the morning.

Curious how you prep skis for this type of setup? What type of inserts you put in the drill holes?

Also..how is the durability on skis constantly swapping out bindings? Does it affect the skis flex, durability, etc constantly changing out the binding? I would imagine it would kind of like a snowboard type setup where you can change it without worry.

Technically the structure/flex/durability wouldn't be affected negatively at all, it's still just the same set of holes, those don't change.

I've had bindingfreedom on all my old skis, it was a blast traveling with one set of Pivots and three sometimes four pairs of skis in one bag with room to spare.

As for binding freedom vs quiver killers, binding freedom has rolled edges vs the cut quiver killers, the former is better in terms of engineering and strength but I doubt it matters much in an application such as this. The one thing that made me choose binding freedom is the flathead slot on top that makes installs a breeze.
