Revision skis falling apart quickly.

This is my experience with revisions over the last calendar year. Started out on the first model of the talisman, loved how they skied, 1month in started getting pretty soft on me and less stable, 2 months in edge cracks of course but then randomly someone says whys your one tail rockered, snapped the core, rode em for a few more weeks and blew 6inches of edge and a chunk of base out hitting a corrugated. Hit them up got a pair of them sent right back out to me and apologies about how they broke and even let me keep the pair to kill them. Sweet all is well, next pair I make it 21 days and then blow out 6inches of my edge underfoot and other edge was about to fall out, that's fine switch feet again and book blow out 2inches on that ski in a day. I hit them up, oh sorry we can't warranty your warranty even though it blew up in under 30 days, and we cant sell you a pair of them because we have to save the remaining for warranty and athlete use. Wut??? Ok so I buy a pair of the 2016 dimes for a decently cheap price since I broke two pairs already, the ones they say have thicker bases and edges better molds blah blah blah, well this new pair is about 32 days in and already the bases are doing worse than my talismans did during summer on hood last year, as well as i have my base pulling away from the edge on one ski and the other one has already lost 5 inches underfoot with the other ski close behind. Dont get me wrong I will ride a ski until it can't be ridden anymore but its ridiculous for a moderate park skier to blow through them this quickly, I will be getting my warranty pair again once these ones die and will be done using revisions gear. Dont think this is a flame thread on them the skis are some of the most fun skis I have ridden and are super pretty nimble just extremely disappointed in their quality. Yes I properly detune for no chance of catching, yes i can hit rails properly, no I will not be using them anymore.

Be sure to detune them well underfoot and knock off any burrs with a file the same day you notice them happening it will help them last longer, they were the most fun ski I had ridden so you will love them just take care of them. To go more in depth with it I am 180lbs and an aggressive skier, I get to ride 4-7days a week on hood and do not baby my gear by any means, I tranny found many rocks trees, taps flat landings with my talismans and they were the shit until they blew up, i babied this new pair and as soon as I started to think ah they're solid I said goodbye to my edge. Keep in mind man the skis were fun as fuck and I'm torn about not continuing to ride them but the fact that they each have randomly detonated on me when i cant recall the trick or feature that did it to them.

Base pulling away probably shouldn't happen that quick even with hitting rails. Edges on the other hand are a crap shoot and they will all crack eventually no matter the company. You made it 3 months of frequent skiing on talismans, after buying a cheap ski Id say you got your money's worth.

If I broke two skis in one season from a single company i wouldnt go out and buy a ski again from them the next year. Not saying revision is bad because i have never rode them but if they are not working for you maybe you shouldn't have bought them again.

don't be bummed, shit happens and experiences vary


on the other hand, i have a pair of the first run of talismans and have put them through the paces like i always do and they're taking the heat. tons of rails, tons of rocks, plenty of crashes, riding into the parking lot and walking over pavement at the end of the day. and i landed on a rock off a cliff and they only had a minor, easy to fix gouge in the base

OP seems like a reasonable dude and I don't doubt his version of what happened. but personally ive been impressed with my talismans. my ARVs before that took the abuse even better but those skis were probably $200 more than the revisions haha

and like OP said, theyre fun as hell skis. if they were stiffer (i prefer stiff skis) id consider my talismans the perfect park/resort ski

my 2 cents. sorry to hear you didn't have such good luck, OP. that's sick that they gave you the first pair for warranty and let you keep the others to finish them off....lame that they wouldn't sell you another pair later though haha

dont jump to conclusions too quickly, I've had my subtractions for this season and they are pretty solid skis. Its kind of a hit or miss with small companies so i guess we will all wait and see.

The fact that they promised better quality and better materials, when in reality I noticed nothing different and others had said the new 2016 gear was much stronger, ha psyche.

dare I say them giving me stupid cheap deals they purposefully give me a ski that was part of the group of "defective skis" I mean they just ask me what the serial number is so they can "track which skis were busting" so to me that sounds a lot like they have a number of skis per run that are expected to be shit and fall apart. I dont understand their concept of the warranty either, if you sold say 1000 skis and 150 broke under warranty, to be same the company would have to have a surplus of skis to warranty so id say they make 1500 sell 1000 and use the remaining with fingers crossed that more do not break than they anticipated. hence the "we cant sell you another pair of talismans because we need them for ATHLETES and WARRANTY;"

None! Because they puss out of contests because they can't "trick" big boulder's jumps

I mounted a pair for a kid. He was back within a week with a binding rip out. The tail was already starting to delam at this point. I put in coils and he was back like two weeks later with those ripped out and at that point the ski was like fully delamed for like 8 inches along the tail. It was just the one ski so i'm pretty sure water got in after the ski fell apart and that's what caused the binding to rip out.

I'll just put in my 2 cents. I got 2 pairs of revision prototypes the summer they launched. (So not the sane as their retail model) I got the skis for mad cheap so I'm not complaining, but I had virtually same thing happen. super fun ski, really lively, and then started to soften out on me after riding on em for a while. I don't really throw any huge disasters onto rails or snipe them or any of that shit that will destroy your edges, but after about 20 days they were starting to delam and crack. Give it another 10 days and I have probably 10" of edge ripped out underfoot, full sidewall blowout, base peeling up at the blowout, and the edge on the other foot is also cracked (not as aggressively but probably 4"). That being said I don't really care because they've been retired as rock, urban, and summer setup skis so they'll still get the job done, but I've never had skis that get trashed this quickly. moral of the story is that they're mad fun skis and if you can get a hookup on them I'd buy them for a season, but if your looking for something long lasting then this isn't the ski for you.

well a ski factory is still a ski factory, there are hands which help craft the skis, these ones are just Chinese though

It seems to be a growing trend on the time frame that these skis are pretty much detonating, what is odd is how the new models are blowing up after being upgraded with thicker materials.

One thing I can safely say between the 3 versions of the skis with upgrades and new tech I haven't noticed a difference in how they feel in hand on hill or durability. Chinese skis really are a crap shoot and them allowing such a high tolerance of faulty skis to come back at them one would think they would switch manufacturers but instead probably continue to get their steal of a deal and offer a warranty on basically any ski that breaks. Sure that works for some that dont ride much a year that they get a new pair half way through, but at this rate by August I would be on my 5th pair or so. That's a big inconvenience for me so they lost me as a customer I just wonder if others are gonna feel the way I do and start looking at other companies when there's start breaking. I really want to keep loving the skis for how fun they are but its like riding on kids toys just wondering when they'll break.

My buddy got a pair of this years and he blew out the edge on the tail in like 2 weeks. I got a pair of last years over the summer and ive ridden them all season and there so fun. A little edge has poped out but other than that there so much fun man best ski ive ever ridden by far

Ive been skiing on revisions for two seasons and only broke 1 set. I do pretty much only big mountain and blew out a sidewall on my talismans last year by landing on a rock but it could've happened to any ski, and the same with a set of subtractions that i was able to fix. Other than that had pretty good luck with them, especially the bodrum. Ive found that ski to be mad durable

I saw a kid skiing through the park the other day with the front half of his talisman and the back half. Snapped right in the middle.

Anytime someone offers really inexpensive skis, there is probably a reason. You get what you pay for

I will say one thing about revision, they have stellar customer service and are willing to work with you to make sure you're satisfied. They have taken care of the latest issue for me, sad to move onto a different company but I look forward to seeing the changes revision makes to the skis over the seasons one of the most fun skis ive ridden, just durability wasn't what I expected. Everyone will have a different experience as revision has stated, I am by no means easy on my gear. Do not let my post detract from the companys reputability. Yes for me they weren't strong as id like but they also were spot on with handling any problems and reply in a timely matter.
To those that just got your skis you will love them for how they ride just take good care of them and they will hopefully last longer than others. Thanks again for keeping me on the snow revision hopefully in coming seasons I will venture back!

Did you mention that your made in China skis suck?
'Cause that would be accurate.

Why do kids from the bunch on revision go through skis much faster than the others?

Why do you keep paying someone else to build shit skis for you? Are you too cheap to move to a better factory?

It was more like 2 months till my tail blew out

but like everyone else said they were some of the most fun skis I have ever rode until they broke. What I noticed with mine was that it was just suddenly broken, One day they were fine the next they were fucked

Same thing for each pair of mine cant recall what specific hit it was just go to look at them next day and was like aww bummer.

My edge separated in the tip on my Dimes after about 16 days, no impact. 11 edge cracks in that amount of days as well. Many companies have gone through a quality slump, I'm sure they will get it figured out.

i was speaking from experience of owning a pair, yeah they're cheap and they've also worked for me so far. What would you call Line skis? Cheap to make but expensive to buy? c'mon now
