Question about shredsauce maps

so I've been stuck in an airport for almost 6 hrs today and as a result I've played way too much shredsauce. Why in the fuck do all of the good maps lately have tons of trees in them? All they do is make the map laggier. Also, is there a way where I can go into the editor for a level and remove all trees? that would be a nice addition if not.
