Need Help with my camcorder

I have a Canon Zr;-85O. When i record onto the Mini DV tape i don't know how to get it onto the computer. And i don't know how to cut out parts of the video and shit

well first u need a editing program, then use the USB cable it came with, and depending on the program just dump it on the comp

correction to above...you do need editing software to capture with (beleive it actually comes with some) but you need to use FIREWIRE to transfer the video from your cam to the PC

firewire usb, firewire cable, firewire adapter, firewire drive...............what one do i need to get, i already have the cable. Do i need the firewire usb?

if you have the usb cable then just plug it into your computer, you don't need a firewire card, but you might wanna get one b/c it's faster.

when i plug it into my computer and it's playing the tape, it doesn't do anything on the computer, it doesn't detect the camcorder. but when im playing the clips from the sd memory card it detects it

are you in your editing program? it should detect it in the program, but wont come up on the desktop or w/e.
