JCTheutMake sure you pop out and then tuck. It seems scary at first but if your patient and get a good pop before rotating the flip comes around a lot smoother. A lot of people tend to develop a bad habit of throwing straight down when learning. This leads to under rotations and losing your ski on the lip. As long as you commit and get a good pop you should stomp it within a few tries and then you can pretty much throw them off anything. Good luck!
teflon66Thanks for the tips, anything I should do with my arms, or should I just throw it like I would on the tramp or off an object on the ground? Some people like to put their arms in front of them and then throw back but thats all personal preferance. When your in the air it feels similar to on a tramp. A good way to imagine it would be doing it off a diving board or cliff since doing it off those you are forced to jump out and then flip as opposed to just flipping. Heres a pretty good video that goes over each step to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UNJ-1FGGrQ
THE_SWITCHFront flips aren't the best fr jumps. Just send them off knolls. Also, backies are WAY less scary and infinitely easier to land.
teflon66To each his own. For me, back flips are way scarier, I need to get them dialed on the tramp before bringing them to snow.

mcnamarskiezfucking send it son..... like the switch said, sack up, try a back flip on a jump with a nice lip and i almost guarantee you land it. At the very least you'll get your flip around catch tips then realize how easy it is and land it second try. way less scary then a front flip IMO. Not gonna dissuade you from trying the front flip though, superman that hoe!
NikolausI'm currently learning them and its all about commitment and not rushing it. get a really strong pop and then throw down and tuck. i find a 15 foot jump about right. Personally i don't have one foot out front. Also, don't be afraid of falling. I didn't land it my first try and i hit the tails of my skis and then my butt. i was fine and it didn't hurt.
cdipI dont pop at all on my fronts, Just lean and make sure to pedal with a foot to get a quicker rotation.
teflon66By pedaling do you mean putting all pressure on one foot and throwing the other back?
teflon66Any tips on the technique? Like JayRich said, is it different from doing them off diving boards or tramps?
