Byron_tha_gr8My Ex goes there, thats why she's my ex
californiagrownJust curiously, out of all the colleges in the Western US, why did you pick evergreen?
GANDALFWho wouldn't wanna take drum circles 101?
californiagrownBut there are like 10 other hippy dippy schools that are closer to skiing.
Its like OP wants to go pay full out-of-state university prices for a community college education and experience that is in the meth capital of the PNW and far away from skiing? Then again, the utter lack of logic in OP's decision making would make OP fit right in with the Evergreen student body!

Momo.Planning on getting residency first, no way I'd pay out of state for evergreen. Also there is an absurd amount of scholarships to apply for. I'm also aware there are schools closer to skiing, but I've already had seven concussions from skiing so I figured a couple years with less skiing wouldn't be bad for me. Out of curiosity, what makes you dislike this "hippy dippy" school so much anyways? I think the different approach to education evergreen offers seemed kind of cool.. I may be wrong though, but I still would like to try it out first.
californiagrownLargely it's a bad school, with a bad reputation, with a bad student life, in a bad city. Seriously though.
What are you looking for in a college? Why do you want to go to college?

Byron_tha_gr8This. It's not so much their super hippy/liberal approach to education, and their unique ass class structures, its the fact that its in a not so great part of a not so great town, in a state with lots of better options.
I think it would have attracted better staff and students if it was in a better place, but the combination of their never-before-used education system being located in a bit of a shit hole has really hurt them.
Evergreen is a possibly good idea executed horribly. You'd ski just as much and get a better respected degree from Central Washington. And probably party with less weird kids tripping on fungus they harvested from their pubes.
cobra_commanderWhen it comes to schools that offer 4 year degrees, Evergreen is perhaps the least impressive degree.
It honestly doesn't tell employers anything about your work ethic or capabilities aside from more likely to be some special snowflake.
Momo.I appreciate the concern you guys are showing for my education. Maybe you will be right and I will transfer if that is the case. However I felt that the school will help me become more understanding and ultimately help me grow as an individual. The atmosphere felt as if I could nurture my creative side, which in turn will help me apply different styles of thought to certain situations.
AND yes! There are different schools to choose from. Yet for some reason I feel I would benefit the most as a person from evergreen. Then again maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's just the fungus I'm growing in my pubes giving me the wrong impression. Hah.
In actuality, I'm trying to find a place to rebuild myself. Maybe I chose a "rundown" place because, after suffering from depression for some years, that's how I feel about myself. I'm just trying to find some beauty within me again and what better place to do it. When I visited the town, it was depressing, I liked it because maybe somehow I'll be able to bring some light to it as well as myself. This may be hippy talk to you, but I don't see myself as one nor do my peers. I'm just trying to grow intellectually, emotionally, and I guess spiritually. Trying to be a well rounded adult ig.
p-foPeople running smack into the surliness of WA regionals ha. Evergreen has just come to be a less serious academic institution due to some of the people who go there. The hipsters who go to Evergreen are more along the lines of New York, mostly dresses in black, smokes cigs, and goes to art school hipsters. For whatever reason, it's a gathering place for their flavor. It's a pitched battle between them and the real hippies who started it all. Olympia is a haven for old hippies, and many of them work at Evergreen in sustainability and/or horticulture and they're dope. Not hipsters. Walk the talk, revolutionary lifestyle hippies. That's the one dope thing about Oly.
But I stand behind what I said about skiing. Terrible place for it.
JaybrtnOn another note, if you're looking for a place in Seattle soonish, one of my friends and I are looking for another roommate or two to go in on a house for a year.
Momo.Yoo pm me. If you need two roommates, Ill be out there with another ns member in the summer.
papermacheDamn. Apparently everyone in this thread has a 4 year degree but never learned to give any respect. Ya'll need lay off the poor girl and go back to watching the republican national debates. After all she just asked if any of you go to evergreen not what your opinion on it is.
