Brilliant boots, haven't had any problems with them so far after about 30-40 days, really solid

I have gone to a boot fitter and this is one boot he has fit me for. i have a weird foot so no matter what i do I'm going to have to have some stuff worked on.

Got fitted for these boots and bought a new footbed.

I slowly cranked them down (two days of riding)
Then I put in the foot beds (two more days)
Then I put in the laces and I cranked them more.

They are now almost fully cranked on my shin. I unbuckle them for lift rides and tours (i leave the middle buckle done up slightly on tours). I have the shin buckle on the 2nd last setting when I'm doing something gnarly.

The walk mode is great for touring.

I have not custom moulded the shell yet and its been great for my feet.

Overall: Great boot, it's breaking in nicely. The three buckle thing kinda sucks tho. 4 would be dope.

I had the quest 120, which were great, but the shells broke when I was taking the liners out after a super cold day, then I got the new quest max 130.

The flex is pretty progressive, which I really like. A 4 buckle design would be nice, but also heavier, and the 3 buckle with a booster strap is good enough for me. The fit of the Max series is slightly narrower than the standard quest and has a heat mold-able shell, which defiantly negates the lack of an extra buckle in my opinion.

I haven't toured, but the walk mode has been really great on long bootpacks and is much burlier than the design of the standard quest, however the switch is a little fiddly for bulky mittens.

However one gripe I have is that they can be insanely hard to get in to, especially on cold days. Mine are quite a tight shell fit, but I have heard the same issue from some of my friends who also have quests, but they are all big fans of the performance otherwise.

Overall I think that if you are looking at these as a powerful freeride touring boot and they fit you well, I'd go for them. Three buckles really isn't much of a concern in my opinion, especially if you are touring.

They are the softest "130" flex boot that I have ever used.

I found that there was a noticeable amount of play in the boot especially when putting pressure backwards

The walk mode is shit for touring (better than a straight alpine boot)

I also broke TWO pairs (cracked the entire upper cuff). I warranteed them once, broke the second pair two weeks later and said never again.

All in all fuck these boots.

Ey Kent, you rode the Quest Pro 130 not the Quest Max 130.

Similar boot, but the QPro 130 is a slightly lower quality version of the QMax 130.
The walk mode is a totally different system on the QMax.

I do agree that they are a soft 130. I weigh 150lbs and can easily flex these boots.

I know this post is 3 years old but the cuff completely snapped off the left boot of my 2-year old Quest Max 130's today after only 1 season of use. The tongues/cuffs are only attached with a 1mm thick and 3cm wide bit of plastic, not well built for a boot starting out at £500 a pair.
Luckily I got them at 60% off, but sadly they are out of warranty.
