Anyone on the East Coast/Mid west closing up? I thought us Western Pennsylvanians would be ok, but now it's looking like we have 4-5 weeks left. Supposed to be 75 next week. This has officially been the shortest winter ever.

My hill wants to stay open until end of march but the end is getting dangerously near. They are normally true to there word though and will do what ever it takes to keep going.

PA/mid-Atlantic resorts will be lucky if they make it till the end of March.

Most New England resorts will call it first week of April. Would not be surprised to see some wrap it up Easter.

after springs closes they just need to move all their snow to one spot and open a park with rails and jumps until its gone

Killington (while it may have a larger budget than other mountains) does this every year and people drive from all over the place to ski one shitty, brown, ribbon of death in May.

The problem is advertising that ribbon of death. Day trip skiers simply wont go skiing because they look outside and there is no snow in their backyard. That's half the reason resorts are doing so poorly this season. Snowmaking is holding things together rather well considering the season we've been handed, but people don't think to go skiing when its 60 and sunny at home in Boston or wherever.

Well of course not, but we weren't talking about die hards. We were talking about revenue and packing as many damn day ticket holding jerrys onto those few trails as possible. Die hards don't keep our industry afloat. Jerry keeps our industry afloat.

They'll make it deep into May if it doesn't turn into summer all of a sudden. The amount of snow they have made on Superstar is ridiculous given the season we've had. That being said, my guess is that they'll be down to that one trail in a few weeks.

Haha they would definitely make money, I mean without that then no one is paying them to ski, if they were to do something like that then all the park rats in a 5hr radius would be paying to ski

killington does it just for publicity reasons. the only people skiing late may, june are season pass holders and shop tickets..

and yes.. its fun.

The resorts are doing a great job with manmade this year. our winter has sucked but on the mountain the snow has been good. thankful for the mountain ops teams for sure. everyone in the east coast needs to buy those individuals a beer or 12

In fact, to be more accurate, that publicity is actually what drives vacation bookings for the next season. AKA a weeks worth of day passes and lodge food for Mr. Jerry and his family of 5.

Yes i get that. what i mean is while they are trying to advertise it to the general day pass jerry's from NYC, boston, yellow platers, the only people coming to killington late season for superstar are season pass holders and shop employees who are on a free ticket (or discounted). The weekend vacationers family of 5 who buy food and rentals are done after winter break in February and maybe spring break depending on the time it falls based on the Easter schedule.

I am down to clown when it comes to that shitty ribbon of death. Vibes are 11/10 and they keep a "Closed" trail that they don't enforce just so that the legit skiers can ski a trail that isn't a complete death ribbon. I hope to see you all in June.

We'd be lucky to get 3 more weeks in eastern PA. My park is getting very out of shape. Everything- lips, rails, etc. is just getting droopy lol. Idk how else to describe it

If they do this its gonna be because people end up going back to springs to do another spring park shoot but with El Niño dumping all over the west coast idk why anyone would bother doing an east coast park shoot

For real. Killington in late spring is the shit even if there's barely anything left. The snow is soft, the moguls are huge and you can ski in a t shirt.

nah, they sell a fair amount of tickets to hardcore skiers from other mountains that are closed. They'll probably do pretty good this spring, I know I'll be going a couple times if they make it to may.

Last week Sugarbush had a good amount of snow, but it's supposed to be 65 ish up there so I really don't know how much longer we have in the season. Hopefully we have a better one next year.

Same deal here in Michigan, a week ago we got a foot of snow and now its high 60's and pouring rain for the forseeable forcast. My home hill probaly won't make it to the weekend.
