Mr.PenguinUtah mountain adventures does a group tour one Thursdays led by one of their guides, that may be the easiest way for you to meet locals.
I'm not local and don't know a great deal about the organisation, but I saw one of their junior guides out with two clients doing something very non kosher the other day. It's not like it was something excusable either, a profession guide, -that is someone who takes money to keep people safe in the mountains-, should really have known better. That granted, from what I've heard UMA have decent managed and some highly skilled and qualified guides at the top.
