Vegas Help

I just got offered a free trip to Vegas this weekend. My roommate is going for his girlfriends 21st with her family. They had somebody back out last second, so I got invited.

I have never been and don't have much time to research. What should I do while there?

Actually it does. Clearly, I'm going to pay for some stuff. The kind of stuff I'm asking about. But tickets to shows, food, a lot of my drinks, hotel will be covered. I love to hike. But I live just outside Glacier Park, so I can hike when I'm not on vacation.

If your going to spend some time there probably shouldn't do that. Then you are stuck with the same what to do problem if you are out of money. Like I said get that pass line free odds 6 and 8 and a two way yo!!!!! Craps is maddd fun I can ask for steak and eggs or a horn high 12 and people know what I mean.

I've been five or six times. It's honestly a disgusting place. It's a place where I feel exceedingly poor, and where I feel that society has gone to hell. The "Vegas experience" that you see in every movie and every TMZ article takes tens of thousands of dollars (per night) to even come close. It is very, very difficult to have fun in Vegas out on the strip for less than a grand a night if you're trying to have a movie-style experience. Money goes extremely quickly gambling.

My personal advice is to "do" the strip thing for a few hours the first evening. Visit all the big casinos, look around miracle mile, etc. Blow maybe $200.

Where I have had the most fun is buying into poker tournaments. You can look online ahead of time and see where they are being played and what the buy-ins are. For $40 or so you can buy into a tournament and play for a while. The house takes their cut off the top, so you really are just playing against the other players. If you are playing fairly low-dollar buy-in tournaments, it is unlikely you will be playing against pro players, so you will have fun if you enjoy poker.

The buffets are good. Some are better than others, for sure. They are fairly expensive but certainly a worthwhile part of the "experience." Shows are another good value. Similar to Broadway shows in NY, they cost a fair amount but represent a good value experience for your money.

So there you have it. Buy into some poker tournaments. Go to a buffet or two. Take in a show. Don't try to recreate a Hollywood-style Vegas experience.

Last piece of advice, and this probably goes without saying: Take a certain amount of cash with you each night. Do not take a debit or credit card. Take only what you are comfortable losing, whether it be $40 or $4,000.

Well, DElaware and a couple random other states allow for 3+ team parlays that are sold in convenience stores and such. But thats it and doesn't really count and the odds are super shitty.


If you want to bet 110 dollars to win 100 on a single game you can only do it legally in Nevada.




If you know 10% about sports betting as I do I am very impressed though. Why do you think I'm named after a casino in Reno?

There are incompetent Mexicans that hand out free porn cards on the strip which is pretty cool.

Vegas is awful, you'll feel dirty and like trash there.. For me, it was NOT fun..
The strip at night is crawling with drug dealers and crazy people.. Well I guess during the day as well

Get really high, go see Tommy Wind, have a laugh and then get hammered with drug dealers and visit the arcades/adult arcades. Its a great fucking time. Its really hard to get arrested there so keep that in mind.

If you gamble, odds are you will lose money. Depending on what type of gambler you are, you may lose a little, or you might lose a lot. I have some friends who went to a small casino in Minnesota. They aren't gamblers and they lost $500. My friend is a professional poker player and ended up coming home from Vegas at a loss of a similar amount because of roulette. So might as well make some serious memories if you're gonna come home with no money!

There's a few car racing places like DreamRacing at the Las Vegas motor speedway. They take you around the track a couple times to show you the track (took us around in a Cayenne SUV and I was impressed at how crazy the guy was driving it), then you do your laps in whatever car you choose with an instructor. It's fucking great man, the speed you throw these cars into turns is unreal.

I did 7 laps in an Audi R8 when I was there (I think the special they had was $250). The R8 was in the same price range as the GT-R, but they also have Corvettes, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, I think SLS (the guy I rent exotics from in Denver does instructing at one of those places from time to time to keep up on his track licensing and he suggests the Mercedes SLS if you want something completely apeshit and savagely out of control).
I rent exotics a lot but this is a completely different experience. With a 24 hour exotic rental you really get the feel of a car in it's every day life, the track is just GO GO GO.

You do laps around cones.... its not worth it. Don't waste your money on that crap. Go see the Titanic exhibit. They have a massive chunk of the hull there.

The lower buy-in poker tournaments are a great way to grind out some fun hours of poker. The bigger the buy-in, typically the better the players are and the longer it takes to cash out.

The Bellagio has a great cash game poker room. Love playing there. Good action and drinks come around frequently.

Plenty of great bars and food around. Just go with what tickles your fancy.

Craps is fun. The other gambling... not so much.

Rent a car and dart out of town. Fun.

I grew up there, I can vouch that the strip is a shithole. most locals only go there if they absolutely HAVE to. it's the biggest facade, everything a street over from the strip is incredibly ghetto. that being said, walking around the strip and playing poker wouldn't be a bad way to spend it. Fremont is kinda cool and they've done some renovation down there to make it more "artsy." container park is kinda in interesting little place, I'm sure going to a bar in there would be kinda cool. if you wanna hit up a really sketchy strip club, check out little d's. super sus. the shark reef at Mandalay bay is alright, I dunno how much it is to get in tho so the price might not be worth it. adventure dome in the circus circus is basically the ultimate shitty carnival. the linq is a cool little area too, it's where the Ferris wheel is.

I think it's the Wynn that has a crazy good buffet? it's expensive but they have like king crab legs and shit.
