Replying to Headphones in mac won't work

I have a MacBook Pro 15in retina computer. I took it on an airplane to Utah and back and when I got back home, I realized my earbuds don't work in my computer. My earbuds work in my phone, but not in the headphone jack of my mac. Ive used different buds and it still won't work. Ive made sure my sound is on and up. Its weird, when I go into setting and click on a ringtone, it comes through the earbuds, but no other sound. Ive tried the insert/extract method with the earbud plug and also tried blowing inside of it but nothing works. HELP ME
