Sierra At Tahoe

Squaw Valley. I did my ski bum years there and I miss it. Insane steeps and a huge variety of steep terrain. Lots of cliffs, big, medium and small. Consistent snow other than the drought of the last few years, which is an anomaly. I now am a Mammoth weekender skiing mammy 2-3 weekends a month and taking a couple of week long trips a season there, but I miss Squaw. As much as I love Mammoth I would prefer Squaw. I love both, but the amount and variety of steep terrain at Squaw is hard to beat. The park is not as good as Mammoth's but I don't ski park so I don't care.

Couldn't agree more. Squaw is so dope. The only issue I have with it is the occasional rich douchebag that thinks they are the shit....but they stick to the groomers so it's all good. I'll be enjoying granite chief and Silverado with all the other shredders

I havent beem many places, primarily in Michigan and then some on Colorado. In Michigan Boyne Mountain/Highlands are pretty good resorts all around, In Colorado tge Aspen-Snowmass mountains are great since you can go to all 4 in one day.
But its really opinionated here since everyone has different skiing preferences!

In the east I like mad river and mount snow the best. Out west it has to be the bird.

WHISTLER

St. Anton, or Silveretta Montafon in Austria, although I was only there for one day each and on crappy skis. Still the two best days I've had on skis.

I would give a lot to go back there with more time and the equipment I've got now.

Waterville valley is pretty sick, staying in the village is always fun

My favorite out West is Snowbird, but Ive only skied Utah. In the East, I have to give it to Jay.

Whistler, a stupid amount of terrain, good snowfall, its an hour and a half from me and on weekdays lines are pretty average. Student season passes are 550 which is pretty awesome.

runner up is sun peaks or apex.

Personally, east coast would have to be Jay as it holds a special place in my heart. But honestly, my last two trips up have been absolute shit.

I also really liked Smuggs my one time up there. If you can rip low coverage and boulders, it's fun as shit.

Only skied 6 mountains out west. Gonna get shit for this but Deer Valley was probably my fave but it was also an unbelivable snow year sooo...

It is unfortunate how many douchebags there are there, but you are right, they don't get into Granite, Silverado, or lots of other spots. I really miss Silverado. Such an awesome part of the mountain. I remember coming down Kina's Paw with sluff on both sides going over the rollover and straightlining the little choke below. So much fun.

The one thing I have heard is that it has gotten even more crowded. Since they introduced those cheap passes a lot more weekend warriors are supposedly going. I don't live there anymore so I can't say for sure, but that is what I am hearing. Some of the older locals long for the days of 1200 dollar passes if you buy them in July (or 1600 if you wait) as high pass prices would keep some of the weekend people out.

I love Granite Peak. One of the best hikes anywhere. Direct Chute is one of my favorite places to make steep turns and Patrol Chute is a great straightline. I actually blew my ACL during my last year living there on a cliff on Granite Peak. It is called Smooth Air. It did not end up so smooth for me.

There just ain't nothing nothing like it. It has definitely gotten a ton busier....that's the reason I will only ski there on weekdays. On a weekend powder day it isn't even close to worth the lines.

I can't complain about a $400 college pass though. As long as I stay out of weekends.

Smooth Air is dope. Along with most of granite peak. I just stared exploring Silverado though....been waiting for more snow at the moment.
