First Backflip Without Preparation?

So I know that there are a shit ton of threads on backflips but I want one for my situation. I really want to try a backflip for the first time this week but I have no way of prepping for it. I'm decent at them on the trampoline but it's been a while and I don't have a soft jump to try it on so I have to take it right to the park. Should I just man up and throw it or am I gonna get myself killed?

Also is there any way to be a little less afraid of it? I was gonna do it today but my knees were literally trembling because I was so scared and my heart was racing lol.

Oh yeah and the jump I wanna try it on is decent sized but not poppy if that means anything. I'm pretty comfortable spinning and grabbing off it.

The trick is committing to it. If you're gonna go for it, go for it. Adrenaline will rush through your body and even if you fail you won't really feel anything in terms of getting hurt, but that's worst case scenario. If you could i'd suggest an airbag or a pool to try it out first, if not just go for it. Choose a good sized jump so you know you won't have to spin too fast, and be sure not to anticipate the rotation, but rather pop from the jump still standing sort of upright, maybe a little bit sitting back and let gravity and angular momentum do the rest. I did my first this season off a good jump by tucking my knees on my chest to be sure i would rotate fast enough and i went a little over cause i had my eyes closed.
Even if you do fall, that's half of skiing anyways. Stand up, shrug it off and try again. That's what skiing is about, and when you finally get it down you'll feel great.

just go for it and commit but make sure you're feeling it. If you force it too much it makes it a lot harder to commit

yeah if you're feeling like you can do it (which i guarantee you can) just ride into the jump like you normally would and tell yourself out loud before you hit it "backflip pussy" and send it. That's what I did and it worked out fine for me

I just sent it on my first try, its really easy haha. And for the fear part just remember its going to happen at some point so why wait. Thats what i always tell myself and it seems to work.

Don't land on your head. And make sure you don't do it on a jump that just drops off a cliff. LOL

Don't even think about the trick until after you've landed it. The only thing you should be thinking about is 1. The feeling you will have once you land it and 2. If you fail you might finally get on Jerry of the Day

1) its kinda hard to see if you did this but make sure you pop

2) its tricky to do this first time and in the dark but try to judge how far you are through the flip and how close to the landing you are. As is the case here, you really stalled out on a jump which needed a lot of whip. Just tuck your knees in to speed things up

3) in order to get a good start to the rotation, bring your hips up like you're humping the sky. It looks like you threw your head and shoulders and just assumed your legs would follow

That jump is literally just a cliff drop. No lip at all. Try it on a better jump

You will feel a little disoriented at first, but the most important thing is to keep looking up and to spot your landing. If you stop looking up you will end up with your head between your legs and you will see nothing but sky. Look up and trust that the landing will come into view.

Unfortunately that's the best one at my home mountain. It was better but it started melting and it lost its pop
