Don't buy Marker Griffon Bindings

So I bought the 2015 marker griffon bindings for park skiing last year. Got them mounted and wore them once last season. This season I've probably been out a solid 20+ times and they came to an end real quick. When I hopped on to a rail and came off I landed a little awkward and bang the binding and ski instantly flys off my foot. I grab my ski and notice the heel to the binding is completely gone. I grab it and notice the rail and bottom is completely cracked off and broken beyond repair. Just a warning! Maybe I got a faulty binding but I look forward to getting some FKS or look pivots next!

It's because you're a beater and can't land switch. Not the bindings fault.

grab a pair of fks, it will destroy the brakes but not the whole binding. But brake replacements are Expensive And hassle. They're solid bindings, just a pain.

grab a pair of sth 2s it will brake the brakes. Buy a new break for

Im not a beating i can land switch just fine bud i just landed with my weight awkardly distributed and it must have just blew.

have had griffons on my park skis which have been used as urban and summer setup skis for the last 3 years and i haven't had a single problem with them. i have fks on my current park skis and you for sure had a faulty pair or a problem with them. my griffons and friends have worked great for upwards of 3 seasons so you must have had faulty bindings.

Ive rode griffon, sth, and fks.

griff: very light, horrible feeling when in them, horrible shape
sth: light, durable, fit feels amazing
fks: decent weight, super ultra durable, nice fit

I'd go with salomon. brakes are cheap and easy to replace.

you will be sad when you take your pivots to a shop and ask to get the brakes replaced.

what do you weigh? what was your din at?

the brake snapping would have been the same if you were on jester pros, the royal family all use the same brakes. From the looks of things on the heel it would seem to be either a manufacturing fault or you've overloaded them which broke because of the awkward way you torqued them.

there is a reason the griffon is markers best selling binding and thats because it suits a lot of people, maybe it just doesnt suit you and your riding style.

For every story like this there are hundreds of untold stories of the bindings working perfectly fine year on year and every now and then there are going to be manufacturing defects and people on the binding when they shouldnt be.

I'm about 6'0" and weigh around 160, I think my din was set 4 or 6 I'll have to check when I get home. If I were to get the look pivots or the FKS what's the difference between say the look pivot 16s and the 14s or the FKS 180s or 140s besides price? Thanks for the help guys!

14 has the axial toe.

18 has the old school ball joint toe. way burlier, way heavier.

if you have dins between 4 and 6 dont get the 18, youre not even at the range yet.

I'm 6'5'' 210lbs and I've beat the piss out of my griffons and never had a problem. I think you just got one with a defect. Call marker and see if they will make it right.

I've had my 2012 griffons on every ski I get. The only issue I ever had was when a snapped a brake, and that was an easy fix because I had spares. Maybe you just have a faulty binding

Update: Marker in currently sending me a new heel and brake! To bad i already bought a new set...

..... I personally hate marker bindings.... Big fan of the new tyrolia attack series, and if you have the money tech fit is the better way to go, having heel lateral release is nice.

Have had many pairs of STH bindings. Everytime the heel piece flys off or explodes. Also the front wings get loose and suck. Fuck Salomon.

If you're managing to completely destroy the heel of a binding multiple times it means that you're either not mounting or adjusting them correctly, morbidly obese, treat your gear like absolute shit, or you're putting your skis on the wrong way round.

STH 12's are average, STH 16 Steels are good, and STH2 13/16's are fucking awesome.

its funny how peoples gear experences go.

i cant stay in marker bindings for shit and have had no problems with s914 and s916 bindings from 15 years ago that are still kickin ass.

OP, im glad marker is taking care of you, i wouldn't take the opportunity to slander the company unless you have further issues and they don't make it right.

I've ridden hard on griffons and jesters for multiple seasons, not a single issue. also own several pairs of FKS/pivots.

Reviving this thread that I started because I bought another pair of griffons and they broke again almost in the same spot, I'll try and post a pic later but for real gunna buy fks or pivots now.

they warranty this. take it to a shop. they will send them to MDV Sports and more than likely you will get a shiny new pair of bindings in a week.
