Daily Driver Recommendations Out West

Hey guys new to the forum here and looking at getting a quality daily driver for out west

We do mostly resort skiing but we also like to jump off in the deep stuff when it dumps

What I've skiied:

K2 hellbent 179
Atomic access 181
Liberty genome 186

I currently have the Liberty Genomes and have sold off all of my narrower skis to hopefully find a better daily driver

Skis I'm considering:

Armada Norwalk
Armada JJ
Armada Magic J (yes I know is ridiculous)
4frnt YLE
Line Supernatural 115
Rossi Super 7

Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated

I'm digging the kartel 106 for a daily. But I'd recommend a moment PB&J too. a soul 7 is a dope ski if you are a directional skier

Kartel or Kastle?

I'll look into the moment pb&j

Never really ride switch but the twin tip craze is hard to suppress...

Rossi seem like old man skis or something haha

if you liked the hellbents then you'll like the shreditors as dailys. I don't think you can really compare Genomes to any ski, they're huge.

The hellbents were fun but not as a daily driver...my bro in law has the shreditors and seems to like em

Yes the genomes are stupid fat but quite responsive considering their size

Are people anti armada here? Is it just a trendy brand?

I was considering the 2014 Norwalk because FreeSkier mag ranked it #1 I freestyle powder 110-115mm

I'm just wanting to make a good choice on my everyday ski

Since this has been the second suggestion for the Kartels is there something I've been missing about On3P skis?

Looking at their specs makes me wonder if their rocker and camber combo would be tough on groomers...can anyone speak to this?

I have the Kartel 106 out west for my daily driver. Awesome ski and I give it another vote. The 106s actually rip the groomers quite well, and the 98s even better. Next year Skis have some improvements I heard that help with edge hold and what not.

OP seems like he wants something fatter tho so maybe the Jeffrey 114 from ON3P or next year they have the Kartel 108.

Tbh, my Kartels fucking rail, one of the best skis I've ever ridden on groomers... The rocker causes absolutely no problems on hard snow, so don't worry about that, there's still a ton of camber underfoot that has you covered.

If if you want something a little wider, the Jeffrey 114 or next years Kartel 108 would probably be a great choice. From my experience, the Jeffrey 114's rip groomers as well, but are a bit heavier/sluggish so harder to hop/pivot in more technical terrain, so If you're into that kind of stuff, it may be smart to opt for the 106 or next years 108.

Aren't they making a 116 next year?

But I agree, Kartels are ridiculous carving skis. I've felt like I was pulling G's on couple hard turns with them, haven't slipped out even though I ski on the ice-rinks in the midwest.

I'm not intimidated by the smaller waist however i think the price point will be a little tougher to swallow as I have about $600 for skis and bindings total

I'm planning on grabbing the 4frnt Attacks as I have a jig and mount em myself so at $168 price point i'm looking at $475-500 for skis alone

These Kartels sound sick but boy they're expensive...

Any other suggestions knowing that I'm limited to purchasing more or less, last years models of skis?

I use the 187 YLE for my daily driver. Fun ski and better in non-pow conditions than I would have expected. I don't thing these have changed except for the top sheets.. I haven't tried any of the others on your list.

I'm not a fan of the Norwalks because they're so one directional, but if you mostly ski straight and don't tick a whole lot then they'd be great.
check out the Nordica Patrons, Bent Chetler (these have tons of camber and rip groomers), Moment Bibby's / PBJ.

sick ski from a few years back! but a more pow or soft snow oriented ski... you could def charge in those but i would be a bit doubtful to call it a daily driver unless you're a big and heavy dude.

if all you're gonna be charging down, jumping off cliffs and may be few jibs here and there... i would look into: bacons (this year's), blends, sick day 100-ish and super naturals 100-ish aswell... migh throw in chronics two, legendary and killer allmtn ski

all depends on your style or what you like to ski and conditions fo course:

pow/float/fun/jib/decent edge hold - bacons

allmt/fun/jib/pow/charge/good edge hold - blends and chronics

allmt/charge/pow/great edge hold - sick days and super naturals

There's a spring sale coming up from ON3P and there's a few places that have sales but not much. Contact them and see what they have

Up until this season, I've been using my 189 4frnt Turbos as a daily. This year I really started to put time on some older 186 Blizzard Bodacious, and I'm really digging the Flipcore rocker. So much so that I'm thinking about getting the new 193 as a pow ski, and a pair of 193 Scouts as well.

But I like a turning radius above 25m, and don't care if it's a twin.

I found a pretty good deal on some 184 K2 Shreditors 102

Would those be a sufficient everyday ski?

I also have a PB&J that i could pick up its just another $100

Any thoughts?

yeeup. the pbj's will be stiffer and will carve better. the k2's will be more playful and soft
