building a box

my friends and I want to build a box, probably flat because it would be the eaisiest to make, but we need some instructions. if anyone knows what to make it out of or how to make it that would be helpful. word

i think all you do is make the box out of wood (6 peices, not hard to make) and put that stuff on top, donno what it is though... that didnt really help much did it?

LEXAN or PLYcarbonte for the top sheet. that shits not cheep tho 250.00 per sheet 8X4

use plexiglass or lexan for the top but if u need real good instructions search the forums and articles cause theres tons of instructions in there

i wouldnt recomend using plexiglass but lexan is a good surface

hey Reed. figure out all the dimentions then cut the right amount of 2x4's and screw them all together, cover with plywood

To make a wicked cheap box, take 2x4's screw (Not nail, nails sometimes fall out when they rust) them together in the shape you want your box, grab some plywood or thick fiberboard and screw to the top. THEN... Paint it, let it dry, paint it, let it dry... etc. about 6 times. This will build up a layer of paint that will slide a LOT better than plywood. (wont kill your skis as bad either) Then, wax up the top when you're done. (don't use spray paint, you gotta brush some on to build up the layer.

(Try not to dig your edges in the paint either)

lexan is not 250.00. i just built a box last week and the lexan sheet was 8x4 for $50 at home depot.

and get lexan or hockey puck board i wouldnt go with the paint thing...i built my frame then stained it with wood stainer (aka waterproofed it) so it wont rot. then we counterscrewed the lexan on top. cut the lexan with a fine toothed circular saw.

If you want a good sliding surface i recommend krazy carpet, its about 3$ a carpet or take 5 or 6 i.5 inch diameter PVC pipes and screw them to the top next to each other.
