Snowshoe Spring Break

Our fam can't afford to go out west this year so we're looking at Snowshoe WV for spring break. Any recommendations of where to stay/ what to do there? How are the parks? How does it compare to other PA/WV resorts? How will the snow be during spring break (March 19-27)? I'm worried that they close right at the end of our break... Any other recommendations within the same range of Cleveland? (where I'm from) We're thinking of rolling through Seven Springs on the way, and I've heard good things about the parks and such there.

Pretty much just tell me if Snowshoe sucks or is worth a few days.

I'd look at closing dates. Would not be surprised lots of places call it quits early this year on east. Easter weekend i could see being it

Yeah Snowshoe has a closing day of March 27th which is Easter. Was wondering how much snow they'll have though; some resorts have a ton on closing day but others barely skim by....

Last year I went to snowshoe in very early march and it snowed about 6 in the day I got there, so there was plenty of snow. I was pretty impressed by snowshoe personally, there are still some nice 10, 15 ft cliffs to hit and some challenging lines. Also they have a smaller mountain with 2-3 terrain parks that has lights and stays open late. It's not the best park I've ever been too but there are plenty of features big and small, I would say if they have snow it would be well worth it!

That's good to hear. Just curious, where are these cliffs? I didn't know there was stuff like that there!

go to 7 springs and just stay there. they just won best terrain park in North America by usa today travel. they have a pretty good night life and plenty of places to eat and hang if you take time off the slopes. would also be an easier drive for you id assume. im not trying to discredit snowshoe, but I've skied springs forever and never get bored with their set ups, springs is where its at.

didn't mean to double post, but they also usually have fun shit going on in the spring time like park jams and beer fests and different things like that. plus they'll likely have the Spot park in full gear with the 22ft half pipe, XL jumps and rail lines if you're into some of the bigger stuff.

That sounds pretty lit. I'm not sure how much say I have in this decision (lol) but if we only get to go there for a day is that enough time to shred most of the setup? They have night skiing right?

Hell yeah! Even if you go just for a day you'll get to enjoy all the whole hill and multiple park laps. No sweat. And they do have night skiing until 10pm im almost positive

I doubt they'll open the spot because of lack of snow and warming temperatures now.

I honestly have no clue how they won best park. Don't get me wrong, the parks are fun but other mountains seem to be so much better. They only have 2 bigger jumps right now and 3 smaller ones. Lots of rails so if you're into rails, it should be fun. But other than that, it seems like snowshoe has gotten alot more snow than 7springs.

If I were you, I'd go to snowshoe because it's bigger. Idk when 7springs will close but they have their pond skim scheduled for March 14th I believe.

haha im not gonna say your argument isn't valid, by any means, (since we all know the east has been struggling with on and off rain and snow) but 7springs is better than snowshoe in the park aspect, at least in my personal opinion. also they kinda have to open the spot too because they usually have photo shoots near the end of the season, typically speaking.

I agree that 7springs usually has better parks but as of right now, I would think that the two resorts are pretty equal, but I have to say I do not know what the setup at Snowshoe is.

I'm hoping they will open the spot but if they do, I bet it would be maybe 1 bigger jump and a super small half pipe just because of the lack of snow. Who knows how or if they will even have a melt down this year!

On another note I think we are leaning towards spending the majority of our time at Snowshoe so I'm not super worried about running out of stuff to do at 7 Springs.

That's good to hear! I can usually cover quite a bit of territory in a day if I have to haha

I was at snowshoe two weekends ago and its kinda rough. If we don't get another decent storm id say there won't be too much to ski come mid march. Just my .02 cents! East coast struggle!

Good to know man, thanks for the info. I saw their website said a 40" base which for this time of year sounds a lil sketch
