californiagrownHow did Orage treat their employees unprofessionally? I keep hearing from you chuckleheads that Orage fucked people over, but no reason as to why. Do you know when, or what circumstances led to the old Orage team being dropped?
Or are you just promoting tabloid journalism void of any fact checking or research of your own?
We have heard about multiple occasions of it happening, from multiple people. If you don't believe us when we say that or don't trust the integrity of our sources, then there's not much else we can do to change your mind. Most of the people who got fucked over have no idea why, and to be honest, neither do we. Yes, business is business, but there is some logic in avoiding bad business practices.
This isn't stuff we heard through the grapevine. We spoke to the majority of the dropped athletes and even some ex-staff. We reached out to Orage multiple times for comment, as we have mentioned multiple times throughout this thread.
You have Magnus's thoughts in the original post, Andy has chimed in before, and Phileven said that they asked him to ride flow and change his style if he wanted to stick around. That's after he had the best selling jacket for how many years in a row?
That's pretty unprofessional if you ask us -- and you wouldn't see that in any other business contracts or arrangements. Imagine if my boss called me up one day and asked me to work for free, and wear a suit to the office every day. I'm sure you could guess what I would tell them.
Here is what Matt Margett's had to say about the whole situation:
---
Why were you dropped by Orage?
Matt: I am not entirely sure exactly why I was dropped by Orage, but what they told me was they were changing brand direction, which fortunately was the exact same direction my career path was heading. I was transitioning from competitive halfpipe skier back into full time backcountry filming. I honestly don't understand why Orage dropped me and I still am pretty crushed about it because I loved the brand, history, and most importantly the product.
Did you inform them of this transition?
Matt: Absolutely! I informed Mike Nick about my transition last season when I talked about it in my Orage interview with Mike in the basement lounge of that hotel in Nelson. I even talked with the new owner and manager or whatever he is at Orage, about my plans for the rest of my career, how long I've been with Orage, and how stoked I am to continue a relationship them on my new venture. Everything went sideways when Mike Nick left the company.
