03gadeI'm pretty sure they said snowboarders screw up the single chair. They allowed snowboarders for a while but they kept messing up they chair when they pushed off. I read about it in one of those freebie VT mags.
the.hellion.I don't know -- and some cursory research has done little to enlighten me beyond the familiar arguments of "bigotry and prejudice against snowboarders," or "it's just not as safe as skiing." To be honest, both of those arguments sound like bullshit. I'm not an expert, but I've definitely noticed a difference in the way a novice skier and a novice snowboarder affect the snow - the "heelside hero stance" is great for getting you down any run, no matter how steep or bumpy, but scrapes all of the snow down in one singular movement. Pressure is never varied and the snow is pushed down to the bottom of the run, no fun for anyone.
Now, I know you say that you see skiers all the time skiing shittily down runs, but by necessity they push the snow off to the sides as they go, even in a snow plow, as opposed to straight down the hill. Skid turns and pizza turns do the same thing and snow is never scraped off in a linear downward motion, like in snowboarding. More snow stays on the hill. These are really just my personal observations, but it actually takes a skier a lot of edge control to fully sideslip down a run (usually taking a bunch of snow with you) For snowboarders, it's one of the only two ways they can get down and often in steep and bumpy terrain, snowboarders are too scared to go toeside and thus the heelside hero.
I think there are legitimate differences in the way that skiers and snowboarders make their way down the mountain and it's important to note that shitty skiers make shitty bumps too.
FigNewtonAlta's target market is that old granola dude that hates snowboards and just wants to ski fresh snow.
BortySkiers just fuck up in terrain parks. Broken brakes sending skis flying own the slope, always hiking up the landings to get their ski or poles. They're always in the way
Not that any of those mtns are known for terrain parks, but just saying, we can do this about anything.
In reality the only reason is "We don't want to ski with snowboarders" or "Our customers don't want to ski with snowboarders".
HP123in reality it comes down to the target market. are old people going to spend more money than lil snowboarder rats? absolutely. so who are they going to listen to? a veteran well paying customer over some snowboarder that only buys a pass? makes sense
BortyImplying that there aren't a ton of snowboarders who have been doing it before you were alive.
Also a lot of families that do the once a year ski vacation have kids that do both.
And a ton of skiers of all ages only ski where they have a season pass to. But let's be ignorant.
HP123not really sure what your point is here? no need to be upset.
these resorts cater to skiers only because it works for them. financially and it makes their target market happy. no lil obnoxious park rat snowboarders getting in their way and being rude. You can hate on it all you want but there's a reason why those resorts are still up and running, with the reputation that they have.

BortyI'm not upset. I find arguing about trivial things on internet forums surprisingly therapeutic actually,
How many "lil obnoxious park rats" will choose to go to a mountain that has no park, or barely a park, over a mountain with a great park?
But what is logic anyway?

.lenconDude no need to get upset. Obviously if you like to ski park Alta isn't your first choice. But I know a lot of people including myself who don't like park, haven't been exposed to park (myself) and enjoy skiing Alta. I can still do tricks as there are a lot of jumps and features around the mountain but you don't have that "park scene". And the few times I have skied park I gotta say I didn't like it as much.
It's all preference. Honestly if Alta made it open to snowboarders they would lose money. Deer valley doesn't have the terrain Alta has and everyone would just buy snowbird passes.
BortyA: im not upset. if its your first day here I type long replies in a few seconds. As mentioned I also like arguing with people on the internet, especially if their posts are pretty dumb.
B: You basically just repeated what I said about the park situation.
Powder was made for snowboards, sorry you can't hang.

jason...damn dude who pissed in your cereal this morning?
KravtZI love ski only mountains they're great. Snowboarders DO have a blind spot. Been cut off so many fucking times by them. Its a nice change of pace to ride at a skier only mountain as shallow as that sounds
BortySnerrberrders and their blind spots.
Bortylol. These threads are always amusing.
Snerrberrders and their blind spots. At least their gear stays attached when they fall.
HP123sorry you'll never be able to shred alta, i know you're real upset about it.
if you weren't you would've moved on by now. *butthurt forever*
BortyEnglish isn't your first language is it?
I could probably ride bumps cleaner on my snowboard than several of the skiers bitching in this thread.
This topic has been beaten to death again and again though.
It all comes down to idiot who think that snowboarders are evil and will ruin the mountain. Every other reason is total bullshit.
As far as the ski vibe thing. There are other places like that such as Hickory in NY. It has nothing to do with being ski only.
I wonder how many criers we would find on here if parks went back to being "snowboard only".
Ya'll haters can watch johnny tsunami, suck my dick, and get blasted in the face when I carve by you while you're standing in the trail taking selfies of your cute little ski vacation.
YOLO

WhooooopFUCK YOU
ure most hated person in this thread
McNocheDamn dude, butt hurt much? Jealousy is an ugly color on you borty beans.
BortyIt feels good
You should give up on the internet. You aren't very good at it. Thanks for trying though
McNocheInstead of posting 35,000, maybe you could be a more efficient worker. Then you could have time to ski more. Be able to stop the "I work so much" claim posts.
BortyOkay buddy. If you want I can link some of the park layouts and rail jam setups I've built solo. Im pretty damn good at my job. But what do you know about terrain parks anyway. There's a "I crush it at my job" claim.
Also weren't you the one talking about not being able to afford a ski trip? You've really figured out what the core of the sport is all about.
Maybe you just need to learn how to use the intrawebz bruh. 35k posts shows about how much I care when I reply to people like you.
Sorry you cant hang
McNocheAnother claim thread from the infamous borty beans
Bortynobody. Just arguing with noobs on here the same way I do with noob boarders.
ianrich511Except you're like the only snowboarder on NS...
BortyFar from it. Even a mod is a boarder.
