Why do You Ski?

Why do you ski? I feel like skiers are some of the most down to earth people out there. They know how to appreciate nature and their surroundings and they know how to enjoy life. So why do you ski. I've always skied because of the freedom. Youre not trapped in a rink, or a stadium playing others. Being told what to do. You can do whatever you want and enjoy yourself with friends. If you want to ski park in the morning and then go shred 8" pow in the afternoon you can. Whats your guys main reason to enjoy the sport?

After a long day of school or work, its so nice to clip into my skis and have no worries whatsoever. Whether it's a late assignment, hard break-up, family troubles, failed test... None of it matters while I'm skiing. I get into a zone and shred, all I can think about is the next run.

All of the money, hard work, long summer months, and lugging gear around are completely worth 4 months of skiing, good conditions or bad.

Honestly I was about to post the same thing.
Nothing matters while I'm skiing. The only thing that matters is if I can stop my self from hitting that tree, you know? The surroundings are another big thing for me. I love being at the top of a mountain and just looking out for miles.

Honestly I don't know what else I would do with myself hahah. Skiing has turned into a necessity for me and I couldn't be more stoked about it.

i just love the feeling it gives you of going fast and being in nature also can cope with everyday life like school after skiing

Literally no other sport that I have played has even compared to skiing. The freedom, style, and overall uniqueness just makes skiing so great.

I couldn't have said it any better!!! It's the best feeling in the world. Its the one place I can always go and be happy and not think about anything that's going on in my life besides the next run.

A few years back one of my roommates got lost out of bounds and passed away, I started skiing in his memory. I had already lived in a mtn town but skiing made me re fall in love with the mountain lifestyle. Was a lifty for 3and a half seasons now I work maintenance at night so I can ski everyday. Its truly a blessing I never take for granted, I can get away from my monstrous medical debts, ex gf problems, any other life issue just melts away when I'm riding. Its easy to get caught up in bad habits I am just glad mine is a positive one like skiing. I do it for the love of the sport. Even if im sick, haven't slept, feel like shit I will still go out and ride within a few laps I always feel better. Being on mt. Hood is an amazing thing I work year round at the resort and can ride 10months of the year usually. I strongly suggest everyone takes a season to work at a resort and live mtn life its an experience I dont plan on leaving.

I just really love skiing. The feeling I get from going fast, or doing tricks, or even just being attached to my skis is better than anything else out there.

Its been the only constant in my life. Friends change, family changes, jobs change...but skiing has never changed for me. Skiing is where I feel most at home.

I completely agree with this I'm not a big fan of organized sports because you always have to listen to the coach even when there not right. With skiing you can do whatever you want because with all the different styles and types of skiing there really is no proper way to ski.
