THEDIRTYBUBBLEWent skiing in a T shirt on Wednesday night. The features were all melted out and there were bare spots everywhere. It was 70 degrees.
2 weeks earlier it was 0 degrees and we got 3 feet of snow.
Christmas week was in the 60 and 70s. The week before brought just enough snow to open up. Somehow my mountain was able to stay open.
But I cant complain. Today it's 22 and we're getting a few inches.
Seriously if you don't believe in climate change, there is something wrong with you.

BenWhitShort term shifts in climate patterns are not necessarily indicative of permanent climate change. The West had the exact same winter the East Coast is currently having last year and the inverse is true for this year. El Nino & La Nina are far more worthy of blame than "climate change". The climate is cyclical. There is no pattern in your lifetime or the lifetime of our parents that is even remotely indicative of climate change. Read up a little on El Nino and ENSO and you'll see why we are seeing these odd YOY weather patterns.

BrucetheSharkJust putting it out there that the effects of climate change don't occur in a one year span. Not saying it's not real because it is and if shit doesn't get done and republican is elected president well we are all fucked not just in skiing but climate change could possibly be responsible for the 6th mass extinction if something is not done now. And I do put emphasis on now because if we let it get any worse for the next couple of years we will be fucked sideways. But I will remind you that, at least in nh, the record temp in February was 63 degrees which was set in 1998 so it does happen. There was also a record temp that was broken by like two degrees up here that was set back 142 years ago on Christmas Eve, and that's exactly my point 142 years ago. So shit like this does happen and it wouldn't be the first time. Not only that but I saw recently on tv that a core sample was taken out of the sea floor sitting under a glacier which was the first time it's ever been done and based on the sediment in the core sample it showed that after each ice age the world warmed up and then there was another ice age and so on and so forth, if you put this on a graph it'd look like a wave. So yes the world was going to heat up no matter what, but they did discover a spike in the top layer of the sediment showing the earth warmed a tad faster than usual. Bottom line is stuff has to be done but the you can't just say climate change caused the bad year I mean we got record snowfall last year, not only that but the west is having the time of their lives this year.
B.QuincyFirst of all I most places havent been recording temperatures for 142 years just saying, second of all yes there is a problem with human pollution and so on but so rapid change will not immeaditly yield results. Third why blame republicans? Seems like your just ranting without much to back up your blame, just because democrats are more concerned with making drastic adjustments without the backing of congress does not mean republicans will doom the planet. Do yourself and your country a favor and open up to hear both sides of the argument fairly before casting blame based on misconceptions you invented or have heard.
