Thoughts on the Line Pescado

both of those were quite different than the Pescado. The Pescado seems like a fun toy but not really my style of ski personally (like most EP skis), I'd love to ride them for a couple of days tho.

It's not new, if it was so good it would be more common. Everyone who says they want it are full of shit. It won't be in the lineup next year. Line can do this because they pretty much have "fuck you" money under the K2 umbrella.....and it's made in China without sidewalls.

I was thinking about this in the woods yesterday. Seems like a great idea to have less junk in the trunk until you end up with your tips in a mess of fir tree ski out switch and think yeah that is why I have twin tip pow skis.

Certainly new to us and yes will be in the line in the fall going forward. Definitely not a common shape because the conditions they are great in are not the most common either, which lends itself to be a pretty limited run but we'd produce to the demand we have of it. Fun, surfy and slashy indeed, inspiration was pulled from EP's surf and snowboard shapes he's been on and not the skis mentioned earlier. BTW, only comes in 180cm....so more like 177, becuase Line.

But since you are here, why is it only 180cm ( Which with Line usually ends up about 176 cm)? Seems like the demo you would be pointing this at would generally prefer a larger ski.

yeah.. not that i'd want a 19m pow ski or swallow tail but only 180?? im 5'7" and wouldnt even consider a pow ski that short.

So I posted a review on these elsewhere, figured I would chime in here... I have had about 12 days on the Pescado this year, and can say that it will be a permanent part of my quiver.

Here is the summary first:

Pros:
wicked fast turns
light
extremely lively/poppy
pretty stiff for an EP ski
carves surprisingly well
handles chop well for the width
They make low angle pow way more fun

Cons:
wood veneer/wood sidewall might be less durable in the long run
only available in one size/width



In depth review:

So first off, this ski isn't what I would take down alaskan spine walls, or the Jackson hole sidecountry. But any terrain is a playground with 5+ inches of fresh on these things. They are more maneuverable than any other ski in the 120+ waist category I have ever been on. I am certain that is because of the weight and length, but the sidecut and tip are also designed well for this.

The length scared me at first, but the mount point is pretty far back, so you ski them like you are carving a groomer and they deliver. Since the sidecut and camber goes all the way back to the swallow tail, they actually have more camber underfoot than a 193 Bent Chetler, so stability is just fine. They are actually really steady on edge, and carve a groomer astoundingly well for a ski that wide. They are easily better on a groomer than a Bent Chetler, Armada JJ, or ON3P Billy Goat.

In pow I feel like I can pop off almost anything, and because of the short length and low swing weight I can whip a turn around like a reverse sidecut ski (Armada ARG, DPS Lotus 138, Praxis Pow, etc). But the swallow tail makes the Pescado feel extremely "rooted" to the snow when turning, instead of the feeling of the tail "squirting" out from under you. But at the same time, they don't get hung up on stuff like a longer tail like the ON3P Billy Goat.

I see this staying in my quiver for pow days when I am at work, and when the pow is falling, fresh, and deep. Day after a storm when the snow gets chopped I will be on something like my Movement Super Turbo or ON3P Skinny Billy.

I might eventually get a second pair for touring, as these are very light for the size. I hope they go to sidewall/Eric artwork topsheets though, I think the veneer is less durable, at least the way they are putting them together currently.
