K2 Pettitor Sidewall repair

Today I was skiing my brand new pettitors in there first real amount of snow and ended up taking about a 2 inch chunk of sidewall out in a pretty gnarly bail. It would not be something that would come under warranty as I ended up smacking into a small tree skis first. Anyways I don't think this small portion of sidewall missing will be a big deal as it is past the camber and taper of the ski but I would like to make sure no water seeps in and ends up rotting the core. I don't have a picture as I am on mobile for the next while but I will try and describe the Damage and location below.

About 2 inch piece of side wall is missing just before it changes material at the tails of the ski it doesn't appear to have any wood material showing however the fibreglass looks a bit worse for wear.

I was thinking just a 5 minute epoxy would do the job as the edge is still intact and the top sheet damage is pretty minimal. If anyone has any comments or suggests on this they would be greatly appreciated.

First off, thank you for realizing and admitting it's your fault, and not bashing k2 for the damage or saying it should be warrantied.

Epoxy is definitely the best bet, however I would look into a 2 part marine epoxy, as it will hold up better to harsh conditions and will be slightly more elastic and less brittle than other types (especially a 5 minute one). (Note I have no experience personally using epoxy for a fix like this, but one of my friends filled a massive delam underfoot with epoxy, and most knowledgable people on here recommend marine grade epoxy for ski fixes)

Ya I hate it when people bash companies over things which are they're own fault. I came off a pillow/tap into a bomb hole and ended up getting shot off into a tree, was a really scary experience. Anyways it's snowing again tonight and I would really like to use them tomorrow. So for now I will throw in a 5 minute epoxy and see how it last over the next couple days. If nothing else it will hold up for one day until I can get a proper epoxy in there.

5 min epoxy will at least seal the core so thats the most important.

To do a proper job get your self some 2 part epoxy. use masking tape to avoid getting epoxy where you dont want it. leave to dry for 12-24 hours. Then cut excess epoxy off with a stanley blade and use sand paper for a smooth even finish

bonus points, you can buy colour dye to put in epoxy to match the original sidewall

(if its just a side wall rebuild without photos cant say more)
