Do you guys like using popular songs or unknown songs that people probally haven't heard. Personally, I like using unknown songs, I find it more creative and that it helps people stay interested with the edit. But, then again using a song that everybody knows can also make make and edit special. Anyway it be cool to hear your guys prefferences.

I think that if you use a popular song that everybody has heard, then:
A) if it has been used before in a video, it will end up being compared to the other video
B) if people have heard it before, it may feel old, whereas new music may be tasteful and refreshing.
I always try to use music that isnt *too* popular. Sometimes the song just fits the vibe too well, but music that is overplayed will make the video feel flat.

Also if you use popular music people will sing along/ focus on the music and not your video

With popular songs, you also run a higher risk of getting caught for copyright infringement and getting your video taken down.

I also agree that I like unpopular songs more just because I love discovering new music from ski edits. The biggest thing though if you want to capture a large audience is making sure that you don't stray too far out there. I remember TGR threw the song Cloudlight by Eskmo into one of their urban features on One For The Road, and its become one of my favorite songs but it would be really hard for an ameture to pull of a song like that without people just thinking the edit is too weird/ far out for them.
Kinda hard for me to explain. So yes, new music but not shit that's immensely obscure haha.
