Replying to Ski Instructors

So i recently took a job instructing at my local hill for the free pass, etc.

Anybody else have any experience in this area? For the most part the lessons i've taught have went fairly well except for the kids who have never seen a ski in their life department. Trying to convey the idea of a pizza/wedge in the first place is somehow so difficult with some kids, so my question is what sort of tricks did you use to make it easier for everybody?
